I went to New Concept Dental after not having a dentist appointment for a few years out of anxiety. My first appointment was for a concern over a chipping of my tooth, where I was told by the doctor that my teeth and enamel looked good and that there were no concerns. My next appointment was for x-rays and a cleaning where I sat in the waiting room while everyone who arrived after me was shuffled in within minutes of each other. In fact, one guy was actually called back twice and when the lady asked the front desk if said guy was called back – no response. I had to tell her that he was called back. Maybe ten minutes later, one of the ladies at the front desk realized I was still waiting and remedied the problem. I was assigned someone to take the x-rays of my teeth. In fact, the receptionist up front was taking my x-rays! Besides how strange that is, the device used to take x-rays was broken in pieces and the receptionist taking such x-rays was struggling incredibly. To complete my x-rays, it took about 30 minutes. While waiting for the receptionist to come back in and x-ray my teeth, another assistant had come in and claimed she was going to x-ray my teeth. After the x-rays, the receptionist said he was going to grab the hygienist and seemingly forgot to do so, because after 10 minutes he informed me that he just tagged my room as needing to be seen. Just no communication between staff at all. The hygienist was incredibly rough on my teeth and had me feeling like she was going to yank a tooth out from how hard she was dealing with my teeth. Furthermore, when the dentist came in, she reneged on what she had said at my first appointment and prescribed me with an enamel-focused toothpaste. I was told absolutely nothing about my teeth other than there were some problem spots. Nothing about whether I have wisdom teeth, if I have cavities, what’s going on with my enamel. Literally nothing. I thought everything was fine until I got up to the front desk and was handed paperwork to sign in regard to fillings I ‘needed’. Not once was this ever mentioned to me by anyone in the back. I was so surprised by this that I told the lady I was not going to sign and that I wanted to be sent the paperwork so I could look it over at a later time. I get the entirety of the paperwork and they wanted me to agree to receiving about twelve fillings, which would cost me about $1000. And not one time was I informed about any of this. I have since gone to a new dentist who funnily enough, tells me I have no cavities and my teeth look good. Isn’t that strange? A few months ago I was being strong-armed for twelve fillings and now I have no cavities. Interesting. After reading all the other complaints about this practice one thing is for sure, they’re only interested in what makes them the most money. It’s a shame, I really liked my dentist and the receptionist who took my x-rays but the staff obviously prides themselves on inefficiency and no communication. Edit: After doing further research on this issue, this practice wanted to bill my insurance $2400, half of which they’d cover, for twelve fillings that I didn’t need. In fact, giving someone an unnecessary resin composite filling is dangerous to the tooth’s integrity. Just exploitative and greedy.
