Dunkin' Donuts – Central Bus Station, Nashville, TN
I have been a regular customer at the Dunkin' Donuts inside the Central Bus Station in Nashville, Tennessee, for years. I stop by almost every day for either coffee or breakfast. While the customer service has never been exceptional, it has been good enough to keep me coming back—until today.
On Wednesday, August 26, at around 2:30 p.m., I ordered my usual small coffee with oat milk, caramel drizzle, whipped cream, and cinnamon sugar. After taking a few sips, I could immediately tell it didn't taste right. I've ordered this same drink many times, so I know how it should taste. It seemed like the caramel and cinnamon had been left out.
I politely took the coffee back and explained that it didn't taste like it had been made correctly. Instead of listening or trying to resolve the issue, the male employee (a tall, large, light-skinned man with a head wrap on his head) immediately insisted that he had made it correctly and refused to consider that there might have been a mistake. When I simply asked if he could add the caramel and cinnamon to the drink, he refused and acted as though I was an inconvenience, making it clear that he wanted me to leave in a very nasty way. Remember, I am a paying customer; his behavior toward me was like I was a wild animal on the street, waving me away.
What disappointed me most wasn't the coffee—it was the complete lack of customer service. There was no apology, no offer to remake the drink, and no offer of a refund until I specifically requested one. A simple, "I'm sorry about that, let me remake it for you," would have completely changed the situation.
To make matters worse, when I mentioned that I planned to leave a review about my experience, the male employee responded, with a lot of body gestures, that it didn't matter because he would still be working there regardless. That response spoke volumes about the attitude toward customers.
After being a loyal customer for years, this experience has convinced me to take my business elsewhere. Customer service matters just as much as the product. I hope management holds employees accountable and understands that treating customers with respect is what keeps people coming back.
Unfortunately, this experience has cost Dunkin' Donuts a loyal customer. You just lost one.
