We moved to Mountain City two years ago and shop here twice a week since it's the main option in town. Unfortunately, the quality control is consistently poor. You have to carefully inspect items before buying; we frequently find moldy cheese and bugs in the bread packages. Because of this, we completely refuse to buy poultry, chicken, or beef here and drive to Damascus or Abingdon for our meats. The customer service also needs improvement. Most of the staff—especially the younger cashiers—act as though customers are an inconvenience and rarely offer a basic greeting. They do have a decent variety of products, but the lack of freshness and poor service make shopping here a frustrating experience.

They keep the shelves stocked. Very few times they've been out of what I need.

One of the SLOWEST and LEAST COMPETENT department stores I think I have ever been to, so much so that I'm thinking about writing a LONG COMPLAINT against this location to company HQ. I had to wait forever in order to get information on basic produce, specifically vegetables. When I finally got someone on the phone they had and asked them questions about apple price they could not answer basic questions and had no idea what they were talking about. Staff needs much better product knowledge and needs to do a much much better job treated customers with deference and respect/speed. I will DEFINITELY not be coming here and have a generally bad taste in my mouth towards Food Lion. Please keep driving!
