Built inside a 1929 mansion that presumably once was financed by Al Capone, the restaurant serves a menu of traditional gourmet dishes including Brie en Croute, Blackened Salmon Oscar and Black Thai Duck. The mansion that houses the restaurant was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and still features the original escape hatches and underground tunnels that were used by Capone to transfer liquor during the Prohibition Era. In 2001, High Point received the "Best Gourmet Meal in Tennessee" award from "Tennessee" magazine.
We went to High Point restaurant for our anniversary. Our server was funny, efficient, knowledgeable, and very attentive without being annoying. The food was fabulous. This place is pricy, but it's worth it.

The amish white bread rolls are good. And The fried green tomatoes were on point. But unless you are looking for an overpriced steakhouse...the food isn't worth going. We should have gotten steak. I couldn't eat the lobster bisque and it was what I was most excited to try...but the alcohol had not been reduced at all.
I remember this place being fancy and formal and for our anniversary date I felt overdressed upon arrival. We really wanted to like this place 😪

This was our 3rd visit here. We typically come for the occasional date night. We probably won’t come again the food was below average came out just warm. Chewy steak, we’d had really great food in past. Waitress never returned after setting plates down. Our cups were empty. She stopped and checked on the table next to us 3 times before coming to ask if we wanted to go boxes. She then didn’t stop by again for a good amount of time before bringing check - the other table saw her two more times during this time. It was clear she had decided who might offer more money as a tip and determined it early on, we usually tip very well but this visit only tipped 15% due to below average service.

The food and ambience were great but we went as a group and without being told they put the entire bill on one credit card and it messed us up.

I ordered the steak diane with fingerling potatoes, it came with a salad and warm rolls. The steak i ordered medium it came well, soaked in sauce. Potatoes were over cooked. The best thing we had were the rolls. My husband ordered the duck, it was chewy and luke warm. Asparagus was tuff. Total disapointment. We waited all day for this over rated restaurant.
