  I stepped outside of my comfort zone to try the shrimp pesto spaghetti which was delicious. Typical go to dinner drink: old fashioned with Woodford. Great flavors all around plus friendly service.

  Food was good and coffee was exceptional!! However, the service was honestly horrible! We sat at the bar both times and day 1 the gal was nice but incredibly slow and just really poor service. Second day we came back just for the coffee and the new gal was unbelievably rude, immediately short with us when she heard we were just ordering coffee, legit slammed my coffee down in front of me. She could tell we were bothered by the interaction & gave the drinks for free which was nice. Enjoyable food but if they cannot get their staffed better trained on speed & service, I would not return.

  This spot had been on my "to try" list for a while, so when my girlfriend came into town for the weekend, we finally locked in brunch reservations. We showed up to a pretty quiet dining room -- early birds, apparently -- but wow, the space itself did not disappoint. Even with our reservation, we couldn't resist grabbing seats at the bar instead; whoever designed this place has serious taste. As the minutes ticked by, it filled in nicely, and the energy picked right up with it. Our bartender was an absolute delight -- attentive, curious about our weekend plans, and full of good suggestions. She also didn't hold back the intended side-eye when we ordered a second round of "Judge Me Not"s. Fair, honestly. We all had a good laugh! Food-wise, my girlfriend went with the croissant sandwich (no meat), and I got the Confit Short Rib Benedict. Both were solid, though the sandwich felt like something you could find at any brunch spot. The short rib Benedict, on the other hand, was a genuinely interesting twist on the classic. They warned me the salsa roja had some heat, because of course they assume TN folks can't handle spice. But, after tasting it, I asked for extra, and let's just say it surprised them. Babe, that wasn't hot, and there was barely enough to taste in the first place. Glad I asked for more, though -- it really brought the dish together. Overall, a great experience and this one's staying on my list. Already looking forward to bringing my boyfriend next time!

  It’s good, however we put my wife’s gluten allergy on the reservation and confirmation and there was only one dish (the filet) that she could have. Most quality restaurants can convert a few menu items to gluten free on request. I understand it can be difficult to prevent cross contamination and they were understanding of the allergy but for what reason the restaurant is marketed as (fine dining) they could improve that particular part. Other than that. A good restaurant.

  We really wanted to love Oliver Royale, especially since we came for our 10th anniversary. Peter Kern Library beforehand was awesome and honestly ended up being the highlight of the night. Unfortunately, dinner was a pretty big disappointment. We sat for around 10–15 minutes before anyone even came to our table while our server repeatedly walked right past us to help the table beside us. She apologized for the wait, but the service never really recovered from there. My wife asked for a sweet cocktail and was brought a Sidecar that was much more sour than what she described wanting, and at the end of the meal her plate was taken without even asking if she wanted the leftovers boxed. The food was decent, but for the price I expected much better. The filet was good but small, and both the Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes were extremely salty. Nothing was terrible, but nothing about the meal felt like the level of food or service you’d expect at this price point. The weirdest part was the host telling us, “You have Ashton — I’m praying for you,” when we were seated. At the time we laughed, but after the service we received, it was a pretty strange comment in retrospect. Beautiful atmosphere and the speakeasy is absolutely worth visiting, but based on our dinner experience, Oliver Royale itself wasn’t worth the money for us. For a special occasion especially, I expected much more attentive service.
