Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

The staff seemed entirely lost in space—it feels like basic spatial awareness and attention to detail aren't even on the job application. When we asked what came on the side of the burgers, the cashier conveniently omitted the pickles and onions. Neither my kid nor I eat either of those. After staring at the wall for 20 minutes waiting on the food, we weren't about to waste more of our day inspecting the order. To top it off, the peach shake was an absolute tragedy—tasted like pure artificial chemical flavor and had the watery, slushy consistency of melting melted ice instead of an actual milkshake. The onion rings were literally the only thing that survived the ordeal. Thankfully, we had coupons for the burgers and only paid for the sides, but this was our first and absolute last visit. Instead of being open 24 hours, they seriously need to rethink that strategy. Maybe dial it back to shorter hours of operation and focus on mastering basic customer service and food quality during the daytime first. At this rate, it's only a matter of time before this place folds and gets replaced by another generic, cookie-cutter fast food joint.
