  Typically have no problem with this place but there has to have been a sewer back up or they are suddenly holding onto large amounts of rancid meat over the last month. Literally gag walking into the store now. Should really get that checked or at least have a poster informing people why on earth it stinks so terribly. So bad you can taste it.

  At self-checkout this afternoon, I realized I had two items in my cart that I forgot to put back. Instead of just abandoning them somewhere, I set them aside at the register and tried to let an employee know. There were plenty of employees around the front end but not many customers. A female employee named Ashley (or Allison? Shoulder-length hair in thin dreads) was fluffing bags at the empty registers. When she got to the register directly in front of me, I politely said, “Excuse me? I have a few items I forgot to take out of my cart. Can I leave them here?” She looked directly at me, turned her back, and walked away. My jaw literally dropped. I’ve honestly never had an employee be that openly rude to me over such a minor infraction. What really got me was that she didn’t even seem busy. She walked to the next register, leaned on the counter, and casually started chatting with another employee. It was bizarre. A few minutes later, I found another employee, Adam, and explained the same thing. Completely different experience. He smiled, said “Yeah, no problem,” and was genuinely friendly. He honestly salvaged the whole interaction. But it’s been over an hour and I still can’t shake how dismissive the first employee was. I worked in grocery stores for years, including as a manager, and I cannot imagine seeing someone on my staff to treat a customer that way — or worse, acting that way *myself*. I’d be mortified if I made someone feel as insignificant and brushed off as this employee made me feel today. Adam turned the experience around, but the interaction with the other employee honestly bothered me enough that I’ll probably be taking a break from shopping at Food Lion for a while.
