I live just up the street in Old Village and have recommended this restaurant to countless friends, clients, and visitors over the years. It was always one of the first places I proudly suggested when people asked where to dine in Charleston. My husband and I chose to celebrate my 50th birthday here last night, which is why the experience felt especially disappointing. I genuinely struggled to read the menu due to the very small type, which seemed to frustrate our initial server. A gentleman later took over and was gracious, but the evening never quite recovered. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming, and the warmth and hospitality I once associated with this restaurant felt absent. What saddened me most was my conversation with management afterward, which left me feeling that longtime local support was not valued or understood. Charleston restaurants are built not only through national attention, but through years of support and recommendations from the local community. I have always treated staff with kindness and respect, which is why the experience felt so disheartening. I was disappointed that I chose to celebrate such a meaningful occasion here, as it had long been a place I thought very highly of.

Went to the Post House with a group of my friends enjoying a little Charleston vacation. So far we’ve had a great experience at restaurants and we’re extremely excited to visit Post House as it was on our list of restaurants to visit. Unfortunately our experience was not what we thought it would be. Between the 5 of us we either ordered the French toast or egg sandwich and the food was amazing. The part that ruined our experience was the waitress. We maybe saw our waitress 4 times in the hour and a half time we were there. We understand that we are not the usual crowd that will visit this restaurant but we were fully expecting to pay for exceptional food and service. One of our girls asked for a side of bacon and when the food was brought out the bacon was not brought out. She then reminded the server about the side of bacon. 10 minutes later we then tried to get our waitresses attention to remind her we still did not have the bacon. She completely ignored us as she was standing next to our table and we said excuse me twice. 25 minutes later after we finished our meals the bacon was brought out. While waiting for a food we were not visited once to see if we needed anything. After food was brought out, is when we were asked if we needed refills at which I wanted the house lemonade. Which was then brought out 15 minutes later when I am almost through with food. To say the least we were disappointed.

This is a very good restaurant! The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! My only issue is parking. There are few spaces in front of the restaurant so you have to park on the street. There is nothing they can do about and it has been that way forever. So, if you have trouble walking or don't want to walk, this place may not be the best fit.

Enjoyed dinner with some friends on the patio recently. Our first time here. Delightful ambiance on the patio and service was prompt and friendly. The menu is interesting (in a good way) and creative. Most of the food was great (scallops carpaccio - yum!, butterbean burger) but a few dishes were not quite on par. The shrimp cocktail was embarrassing featuring miniature shrimp (albeit on a tasty cocktail sauce) and the fries were room temperature and chewy. Small details matter and while I wanted to love it I’m not sure if this restaurant is continuing to strive or coasting on previous positive reviews. We will try again and see if this was just a fluke off-night.

I’ve had the chance to dine here twice, and each visit felt like a truly special escape. This restaurant has a soul — a rare and precious atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, you feel at home: warmly welcomed, cared for, almost pampered. Everything is done with sincerity and attention to detail. The dishes are full of flavor and beautifully executed, with a true mastery of taste. The menu evolves regularly, offering something new and exciting each time. You can really feel the freshness of the products, handled with care and intelligence. The service is exceptional. The servers truly know the menu inside out — they understand every dish and every recommendation they make. You can trust them completely and follow their guidance with your eyes closed. As for the kitchen team, to remain completely neutral, I will simply say: a big bravo and thank you for all the hard work and dedication you put into what you do. The entire team is attentive without ever being intrusive. You genuinely feel at the center of the experience. It’s a place you wholeheartedly recommend… and at the same time, almost want to keep to yourself, because it feels so good to be there. There is something deeply soothing about this place — like a poetic pause in a world that sometimes moves too fast. You can truly slow down, breathe, and unwind. The patio is simply remarkable — a small bubble of comfort where you can enjoy a good drink, a beautiful dish… and desserts that are absolutely outstanding. The cocktails are delicious, the atmosphere is gentle, and every detail feels thoughtfully crafted to create a sincere and memorable experience. A truly beautiful experience — one to enjoy again and again
