  I went to the deli to get sandwich meat. A lady politely spoke to me and at that time I didn’t know her (manager)and I told her what I need. She then turn to let this other young girl (between 25-30 of age) know I need assistance. This girl just walk over just standing there in front of me, didn’t speak or ask what I need. So I let her know what I needed and Katina let this girl know she had the wrong meat item she was slicing. Katina told her which one I wanted. This girl just start slicing the meat. I look over to Katina and told her that she(girl) didn’t ask what number I want the meat to be sliced on and I told (manager) number 3. I hope I have this lady name correct because at the time I didn’t know she was the manager. The manager told the girl what number I wanted. The Food Lions I’ve been to they will cut a slice and ask if that slice ok or do you want it thinner or thicker. This girl finish my order and hand it to me and I said thank you. I noticed the manager (I didn’t know at the time) kept watching her and I thought the girl was mentally challenged (no offense) and I continued shopping. As I was coming out the aisle the manager introduced herself to me and apologized how this girl was acting. She then told me she spoke with her store manger about that situation. This manager was very professional and polite. This girl that works in the deli needs to work on customer service skills or quit! Because her personality, demeanor and skills are very poorly. I’m new to Marion and this is not the type of Food Lion customer service I’m use too! To the deli manager, thank you for noticing the work of your employees but most of all, thank you for noticing your customers!

  My wife and I stopped there today to grab a few items. When we got over by the bakery my wife grabbed arm as she was trying to sheild her eyes. One of the fluorescent lights had started flickering really bad and my wife is epileptic and cannot handle flashing lights. I took her and led her out the area. We finished grabbing what we needed and went to the checkout. I told the cashier about the light and she told her manager. All I asked her to do was post a sign alerting people until maintenance could fix it. She told me it wasn't a maintenance problem and she wasn't going to do anything. Very rude. If my wife would have had a seizure, we might have sued. They should train their managers better. Awful customer service.

  This store use to be much better, they are having a hard time keeping up with the demand with everyone moving here, although, they are soon to be opening another one in the area so hopefully that will help with the items being stocked. The way it is now, the day their new flyer comes out each week, the items are gone from the shelves.
