We were four tourists visiting the area and decided to take a 30-minute Uber from our airport B&B to this bar because it’s advertised as a “honky tonk.” Naturally, we expected a country music atmosphere.
Unfortunately, after 45 minutes, not a single country song was played. When we asked about it, we were told we could request country music. That’s pretty disappointing—if you brand yourself as a honky tonk, country music shouldn’t be something customers have to request.
What made the experience worse was the lack of concern from staff. We expressed that we were dissatisfied, and no one seemed to care or make any effort to improve the situation.
When we decided to leave, things got even more uncomfortable. We were already seated in our Uber with the doors closed when an older man—unclear if he was staff or just a regular—came up to the car and demanded we return our drinks. If that’s a policy, it should have been communicated at the door, not once we were about to leave. He then accused us of not paying, even though you can’t open a tab there without a card on file. To escalate things further, he pretended to call the police and claimed he would report us for open containers.
That interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessary, especially for first-time visitors.
On a positive note, the bartender was great, and the food was genuinely good.
However, for anyone visiting from out of town: don’t come here expecting a true country/honky tonk experience.
