I finally got the opportunity to stop by Roy's Grille in Irmo, SC; which I follow on Facebook and let me tell you it was worth it! If you're looking for genuine southern cuisine, Roy's Grille will not disappoint. I went on Soulfood Sunday in the afternoon and when you pull up the smoke from the grill is in the air! Love that! I had brisket...which was good (the absolute best I've ever had is Bobby Qs in Phx, AZ). But the oxtail was THE best oxtail I've ever tasted in my entire life! Just downright lip smacking, slap yo Momma delicious! My sides (2 dinners) were string beans, mac n cheese, fried cabbage, sweet potato fries, and candied yams. Everything was very tasty. Chef Williams is a seasoning master. It's not just salt/pepper his favors are complex, but somehow work together to make a masterpiece in your mouth. The meat servings were very generous, but the sides...not so much. I find dining in usually gets you better portions in most places. The young man that took my order was very nice and helpful since it was my first time there. A big plus, no line! But I did wait about 10 minutes or so; which is nothing. As for the atmosphere, I appreciate the fact that there was no blasting music. I absolutely hate that! However, it was really hot in the restaurant. Not sure why that was, but I asked the order taker how he stood the heat, and he said he was used to it. Poor fella! I really wanted to take a picture with Chef Williams, but I was told I just missed him. *sad face* I highly recommend Roy's Grille. If you give this food a bad review, you just don't like down and dirty authentic, well seasoned, lip smacking, soul food. Please give it try, you will not be disappointed. Hey Chef, if you see this review, I'm Momma P's Sweet Tymes on Facebook and I make a mean southern pound cake just like my grandma taught me. I love the fact that I you named your place after your grandfather and learned how to season food from your momma nem! *chef's kiss* to our ancestors!

My recent visit was the first and last time. I paid $27 for a small scoop of cabbage, a small scoop of mac&cheese a small portion of stew beef and the rice which should be included is considered a side. No drink no bread of any kind is included with this plate

Roy's Grill was a great stop! We ordered the BBQ platter with macaroni and collard greens, a side of brisket (because we wanted to try all of the brisket, ribs and pulled pork), and the Carolina Korean Cheesesteak with fries. The BBQ came with five sauces and they were all delicious. The cheesesteak went down smooth and was really tender. There was more than enough food for the three of us. Definitely worth stopping if you're in the area. One tip though: wash your hands before and after because things can get messy.

Visited for the 1st time yesterday. We wanted to try the Sunday menu. First of all...Frank and his customer service- Excellent. He actually answers the phone and is pleasant when he does it!! We had a problem with our initial order and he was quick to rectify it to our satisfaction. Our order was take out so we needed to re heat when we got home but the flavors were delicious! We had the lamb steaks(they aren't chops with the long rib bone), curried chicken, and the grilled duck. All were very tasty. Some parts of the rice were crunchy and undercooked but the Greenpeace cabbage mac n cheese an sweet potatos were very good. The portions were smaller than we expectedI. There are no leftovers at all. For the price I expected larger portions. If those things had been corrected I would have e given them 5 stars across the board. Ill be back to try their week day menu.
