Best fried chicken on Hilton Head! And best soft shell crabs when they're in season too

Delicious dinner tonight at Annie O’s! It has been in business for 10 years and we had never heard of it until a friend recommended it recently. So glad we didn’t let the exterior (which isn’t horrible!) or the small crowd stop us from trying it. Very nice to have no wait!! Food came out quickly. Previous positive reviews of their good food were correct! Best fried chicken and calabash shrimp we have had in a long time! French fries were hot, crispy with a nice coating, collards great, vinegar coleslaw a bit too spicy for me but hubby enjoyed them. Biscuits were a bit packed but tasty covered in butter. Our server was delightful and we even met the owner and had an enjoyable chat with him. We will definitely be back!! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Called restaurant to see about seating, told “ we closed at 4 today, but will be open tomorrow until 8”. went the next day, only to find a sign on the door stating they were closed for the day. Lots of other dinner options on the island. Passing on Annie O’s .

Annie O's Kitchen is doing a Masters Menu Tribute in honor of the Augusta National available for pick-up or take-out only this week. As I grew up going to the Masters, I wanted to try it. Although they are not the same as I remember the Masters food being exactly, the egg salad sandwich and the pork bbq sandwich were both good. The savory tomato pie was the surprise - it was spicy and I really enjoyed the presentation - not like a pie slice but more like a tart filled and crust all over. I found it to be quite delicious and I especially enjoyed the Georgia Peach Iced Tea... I ordered on Thursday and missed out on the Georgia Peach Ice Cream Sandwich as it starts on Friday. I actually wondered if the tribute were going to be very small but they were not.

Just had one of those “how is this place not packed every night?” experiences at Annie O’s Kitchen… and wow, I’m still thinking about it. Debbie and I stopped in about an hour before closing, not expecting much—just a quick bite. What we got instead was hands down one of the best seafood meals I’ve had in a long time. First off, we met the owner, Jim Scully—absolute legend. Friendly, genuine, and actually takes the time to sit and chat. You just don’t see that anymore. Great conversation, great energy… set the tone right away. Now let’s talk FOOD… • Fried oysters & shrimp – ridiculously good. Light, crispy, not greasy at all. You can tell everything is top quality. • Coleslaw – vinegar-based, shredded, and honestly reminded me of proper German kraut salad. Perfect balance with the seafood. • Soft shell crab… alright, this is where things got serious. “It was like a circus in my mouth… just an explosion of flavors.” I’m not exaggerating. The texture was creamy, not oily, and the batter was just perfect. One of those bites where you just stop and look at each other like… yep, this is special. On top of that: • Everything is made with high-quality ingredients • Prices are very reasonable for what you’re getting (honestly, some places charge double for worse) • BYOB (bring your own wine/beer = big win 🍷) • Huge menu—seafood, ribs, BBQ, pulled pork, chicken, desserts… you name it Final verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👍👍👍 (three thumbs up from Debbie & me) If you’re in Hilton Head and even thinking about seafood—this is a hidden gem you don’t want to miss. We’ll 100% be back.
