  I took my wife here for Mother’s Day and spent around $370. We’ve eaten at Rick Erwin’s West End Grille before (for my birthday last year) and had a very good experience, so we were excited to make it our new go-to date night spot after recently moving to the area. The service was outstanding — easily some of the best we’ve had at any steakhouse. The staff is professional, attentive, and genuinely goes above and beyond. Our bottle of wine and cocktails were excellent. My wife’s 4oz filet and lobster tail surf & turf was cooked perfectly and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The strawberry shortcake dessert was also very good. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn’t match the high-end price or the quality of service. The dozen oysters were mediocre at best and far from the freshest we’ve had. Our wedge salad was fine (they were accommodating when I asked for no blue cheese and brought me a ranch version, after giving me blue cheese first by mistake). However, my 11oz filet was a major disappointment. It was stringy with tough, thin fat strings running throughout that made it almost inedible. I sent it back after showing the server, but the replacement steak had the exact same issue. The crème brûlée was also underwhelming — it tasted more like a store-bought version and seemed undercooked. We love steakhouses and were really hoping this would become our regular place, but for the money spent and the quality of the food this visit (especially the filet and oysters), we won’t be returning. It’s a shame because the service and atmosphere are wonderful. We’ll keep looking for a consistent high-quality steakhouse in Greenville.

  We had such a wonderful experience, dining here last Wednesday evening. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. The sous chef, Hanna, went above and beyond to make me a meal that I could eat having an allium intolerance — not an easy task. Our server, Tyler, gave us outstanding service and made sure we had plenty of homemade biscuits and even brought us a dessert to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you for making our evening so special.

  Kevin, at the bar is such a pleasure. Mean martini, great conversation, and an asset to the Rick Erwin’s West End experience. We look forward to visiting again soon.
