I spent about $40 on 12 beef patties for my family, and unfortunately, every single one of them was extremely dry and overcooked. The crust was hard and flaky in a bad way, and the filling was dark, dry, and lacked moisture. They were honestly inedible, and I ended up throwing them away.
I called the store to explain the issue and was initially told I could be refunded over the phone, but then was told I had to come in despite living over 30 minutes away and already spending money on gas.
When I returned, instead of resolving the issue, I was met with an argument from one of the cooks who insisted the patties were not dry. Being told that all 12 patties were fine when they clearly were not was frustrating and dismissive.
This wasn’t my first disappointing experience either. A few weeks prior, I ordered oxtails that were mostly fat, lacked flavor, and came in a very small portion. The sides (cabbage, no plantains included) were also underwhelming.
As someone from NYC with a Caribbean background, I was genuinely excited to support a local Caribbean spot, but this experience was very disappointing from both a food quality and customer service standpoint.
I won’t be returning.
