  I have always been a Food Lion customer, but this recent visit changed my opinion. Since moving to the area, I’ve noticed that this location often has only one register open, forcing customers to use self-checkout. During this visit, I needed to complete two separate transactions. The employee assigned to the self-checkout area stood nearby the entire time while we checked out. At the end of the second transaction, she pointed to the soda on the bottom of our cart and asked if we had scanned it. I explained that we had already scanned one case during the first transaction and were about to scan the second one at the end of the current transaction. She responded that she didn’t see the Dr Pepper on that transaction, so I clarified that we were checking out separately and that the first case had already been paid for. I understand that employees need to prevent theft, but the interaction felt unnecessarily accusatory. If customers are expected to use self-checkout because only one register is open, they should be allowed to complete their transactions without feeling like they are being closely monitored or assumed to be stealing. Unfortunately, because of this experience, we will not be returning to this store.

  This Food Lion has a much nicer deli and butcher department than the other stores I have been to. They've actually got sushi that looks pretty good, but I haven't tried it yet. The fresh fish in the butcher case looks amazing, and they have a pretty decent selection. They've even got frogs legs, but I just can't bring myself to eat them. They usually have oysters, at .99 cents each. They also have shrimp defrosted in the case, for the same price as the frozen. The isles are clean and shelves are pretty well stocked.

  Went to the grocery store at 7pm on a Monday and there were no cashiers working. Instead 2 girls were standing at the top of the self checkout line, yelling at customers to get in self checkout. Before I could even load my groceries in the cart after checkout, she was yelling for the next person in line to move into where I had just finished. I heard her say "I am not hoping back on to checkout." When the line was wrapped down a whole aisle. Worst customer service and atmosphere.
