Yesterday was my first time visiting this location, and not only was I excited for the food, I was excited to enjoy the World Cup game with my friends. When our sever approach our table, she did not greet us and went straight to asking for our orders. At this point, no one had an issue because we were all ready to order. My friend had brought her boyfriend along, who is Mexican, and does not speak English. She politely asks to order a beer for him, and with straight attitude the server says, “Gotta have ID.” It is common sense that ID is required to purchase and drink alcohol, so it was unnecessary to phrase the request for an ID that way. My friend’s boyfriend hands the server, his Mexican passport, and the server says she will check with the manager. She then leaves with his ID in hand and is gone for over 5 minutes. Being strict on IDs is understandable, but walking off with someone’s ID is unprofessional. She comes back and tells us the manager denied it, my friend questions, and the server goes along the lines of “Every customer says the same thing, Every Buffalo Wild Wings is different.” Assumption is different, but following the law about alcohol is not different across chain or independent businesses. My friend complied and asked to order him a Coke, and the server immediately replies, “You don’t get refills on that.” No one asked about refills? Neither did she proceed to say that to anyone else. Eventually, the manager, Jeff, comes out to speak to us, clearly not confident in his position, explains to us that it was his server who was uncomfortable with serving him alcohol. At first it was the manager who denied the ID, now it’s the server who denied it. Not sure if they are putting the blame on each other or not. All of us at the table have taken the ServSafe class on alcohol, and are certified, so we are confused as to why an ID that is NOT damaged, has a clear photo, clear date of birth above the year 2005, and an expiration date of 2030, is suddenly invalid. Why? Because it’s not American identification? Doesn’t make sense. When my friend explained this, the manager was unable to give us a response. He just stared, and then proceeded to say that he has not seen “this kind” of ID, seconds later to only say they have seen all types of IDs. As this was going on, the server was ‘cleaning’ the table behind us listening in on the conversation while smirking. It’s not funny, but her lifted wig is. Whether it was intended or not, it was blatant ignorance, racism, and unprofessional behavior. We left before food, so no further issues, but it is very upsetting to experience this kind of environment.
