  Oak never disappoints. We keep coming back for the consistency across the board. For almost 20 years we have shared special experiences here and will continue to do so. As a Charleston native, it will always be one of our favorites.

  Excellent steaks, correct temperature, high quality, large portions. Definitely a little spendy, and would appreciate more lactose free variety on sides, but mostly very high quality. My only nit is that the menu says pommes frites I was expecting fresh cut fries or at least shoestring fries, but they had just standard Sysco steak fries. Fantastic service though!!

  This visit was interesting. It started off really hectic because when my husband and I arrived, a large formal party had all arrived at the same time and were standing in the dining room as soon as you walk in. Somehow, I got stuck holding the entrance door while my husband spoke with the hostess. She told him the only seating available was at the bar and we were good with that so he went towards the bar through this big formal party and I was stuck holding the door. He told me to let it go but I just couldn’t let it close on people’s face. While I was holding it, six men came in and not one of them acknowledged me or thanked me for holding the door. It was clear they were making a beeline to the bar and they were going to take all the seats when 2 of them should have been for me and my husband because we were there first. By the time I could free myself from the door the only seating available was in the corner shoved up against a wall and my view was a black wooden post. It just really rubbed me the wrong way and it upset me to the point of crying. By this point, I was not even hungry anymore. The bar attendant could tell I was upset and was so sweet to me. I told her all I wanted was a roll and she gifted me and my husband a basket of rolls! He ordered the filet and said it was cooked to perfection. He had also ordered a baked potato but they were not going to be ready for another half hour so they substituted mashed potatoes. They were too salty and he could not eat them. For the inconvenience, they didn’t charge for the potatoes either. If given the opportunity, I would definitely re-visit this restaurant.

  What a pleasure it was to dine at Oak this weekend. We happened to be there during Restaurant Week and the special menu they offered was fantastic. The cocktails and all the courses were fabulous! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the team members who we encountered were warm and attentive. Many thanks to Jackson who took great care of us. Request a table on the third floor as the architecture of the space is beautiful and the mural on the wall will give you a smile (look for the monkey with the fork). We look forward to returning in the future.

  Super high end fine dining. Great for birthdays or anniversaries. Okay for kids but not ideal. Sides are family style. So it's like a large bowl of mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, Mac and cheese etc. Definitely try the "oak steak sauce" for $2. A great addition. No on site parking like most places in town, but you can park on the street usually. We've been coming here annually for 14 years and will be for another 14 or more!
