This place is A-MAZING! First time patron after living in the Charleston for 2 years, and we're kicking ourselves for not stopping in earlier. The Pickled Shrimp Toast and a Peak Season Hefeweizen checked all the boxes on this 96 degree day sitting outside at "The Bower"with our dog. Ben was our bartender and host...Absolutely the best customer service we've had in a LONG time. We will certainly be back!!

My wife and I have been here quite a few times. The last time we were there the restaurant had a private event in the dining room. We decided to. Stay for the happy hour at the outside bar. We ordered two glasses of red wine and 2 appetizers from the happy hour menu. First of all the bar tender sent us 2 glasses of wine that was not on the happy hour. The wine she sent us was 15.00 per glass and it was only a 1/2 pour. Also she sent us an extra appetizer that we did not order. When I told her that she did not key in what we ordered she denied it. So I decided ok you live and learn, I won’t be back. So I went up to the bar to close out my tab I did not leave her a tip. Well when I received my credit card bill she added on her own tip in which I did not approve. So I overpaid for more expensive wine that I did not order, an extra appetizer that I did not order, and a tip that I did not approve of. I spent almost 70.00 for a bologna sandwich, 2 chicken salad sliders, and 2 half glasses of wine. All because the bar tender got it wrong and would not admit it, or maybe she knew what she was doing and thought I might not notice. I don’t know. Just be careful and check your bill closely.

Awesome atmosphere, good service. However one of the worst prime ribs I have ever experienced! Flavor was good but texture and quality was so disappointing. Tough and chewed is the best I can do to describe the por quality of what should be one if the bullet cuts of meats!

Bad Impressions from the get go for brunch today. We waited at 10:55 before they opened, the hostess messed with the door around 11:02 and we were the only ones out there obviously standing outside waiting. She didn’t even crack the door open or tell us to come in, we were obviously standing there waiting and we had no idea if she unlocked the door. Mentioned this to her inside and she just ignored it. 2nd bad impression, the carver for the prime rib didn’t ask for doneness and gave the absolute end piece that was inedible and another well done piece. Disappointing to have a prime rib, and not even carve the right pieces for their patrons. 3rd bad impression the pancakes, and eggs were nearly cold. Obviously cooked before and put on warmers, but they were cold, nothing else was cold. More disappointing that it seemed like powdered eggs. Pancakes were good, but just cold. Overall the ambience was nice, the server was quick and attentive. The rest of the food ranged from mediocre to decent but nothing amazing. the potato crisps they had may have been the most unique and original. Chicken was well fried and well battered. Curry mac and peas was maybe the best side. Collard greens lacked flavor, rice was dry. Bacon was well crisped and flavored.

Edmund's Oast is a solid, spacious spot with a massive beer selection. It seems like a great place to sit outside when the weather is nice, though it was too hot during our visit. The fried chicken was great, and the pimento cheese had a serious kick, making it the spiciest I have had. It is a reliable option for casual food and a broad drink list.
