⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The half chicken was AMAZING! Perfect smoked flavor and so juicy and tender. You can really taste that authentic BBQ flavor. The ribs were also fantastic, and the collards are some of the best I’ve had. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. Definitely a must-try if you love good BBQ!

I was ready to support this local restaurant but unfortunately they have no list of allergens available and the staff was clueless when asked, and not willing to help. I understand it’s a family restaurant but customers can’t help their allergies and won’t support a business that isn’t able to share an ingredient list and ensure the safety of their patrons.

I’ve been eating at Bessingers BBQ since the first time my dad took me in 1968 to the 1st drive in Bessingers in West Columbia. I live in Charleston, so it’s been the one on hwy. 17 for many, many years. I’ve always enjoyed and been happy with Bessingers. I have never gotten anything bad or had a complaint. But today, for some reason, the ribs were the BEST I’ve had ever…ever since eating here. The smoke flavor, the rub, it was just so flavorful and just one word describes it…Delicious !!.. I traveled for many years and ate barbecue all across this country, and Bessingers is still one of my favorites. If you’ve never been, I highly recommended it, and let Kaitlyn know Ken sent you😉…Madison and the whole team there are always a pleasure to deal with.

What in the world has happened to Bessingers BBQ in west ashley!? We have been going there for years, the last 2 times were enough to convince us NOT to go back! Very disappointed! The people working at the counter (a young man and woman) acted both times like they were doing us a favor. No thank you, we were treated like a bother. We paid 60.00+ on both occasions for 2 of us. I don’t mind paying for good food and good service. Both were sub par. They were out of tea. I was told I would have to wait until the young man working in the dining room had time to fill it. Then when I asked for sauce (the canister in the dining room was out), I was snuggly told that it would be filled soon. I asked for some that they had behind the counter. I was told it was for to go orders and he would fill it soon. This last time, our food was cold, COLD. By this time, we were so aggravated, that we just left. We both had different items too. One as brisket, one was pulled pork. We are disappointed and will not be back, nor will we ever recommend this place again. Go elsewhere!
