I work right above ProteinHouse on Eastern, so I order from here regularly. I usually place my order ahead of time, pick it up on my way into work, and head upstairs. If I'm being completely honest, there aren't many menu items that I enjoy, but the breakfast sandwich and cucumber salad have become my go-to order.
Unfortunately, I have a few concerns. I've been ordering here weekly—and sometimes daily. When I first started coming, my usual order cost around $13. Recently, that same order jumped to about $15 with no noticeable changes to justify the increase.
I also don't appreciate that both the app and website automatically add a tip to the order. If you don't want to leave one, you have to manually remove it. While tipping is certainly appreciated for good service, it shouldn't be preselected by default.
My biggest concern, however, happened yesterday. As I was finishing my cucumber salad, I discovered a long, black, straight hair in my food. I had already eaten almost the entire salad, so I didn't feel there was much point in going downstairs to complain at that moment, but finding a hair after you've nearly finished your meal is absolutely disgusting. I immediately became nauseated.
This experience has completely changed how I feel about ordering here. Between the rising prices and now concerns about cleanliness, it's no longer worth the convenience. I'll most likely start going up the street to Greens and Proteins instead. In my experience, the food is better, the prices are lower, and I've never had an issue with hair or anything unexpected in my meal.
I genuinely wanted to continue supporting ProteinHouse because of its location, but after this experience, I simply can't justify it anymore.
