I recently ate at Mark Quartz Landing with my wife and my 82-year-old mother-in-law. When we arrived, we were told there was no seating available inside. I explained that we were happy to eat outside as long as we could sit somewhere out of the direct sunlight, since it was 93°F outside. As we walked outside, however, we noticed two empty tables that each seated four people. There was also an adjacent room across the patio with an empty table that could seat at least six. Because of that, I wasn’t really sure why we were told we couldn’t eat inside. I found the situation rather rude, and it’s not a policy I would have if I were managing the restaurant—especially when you’re dealing with an 82-year-old customer on a 93-degree day. The service was also a little slow. Our drink refills took longer than I would have expected, particularly considering how hot it was outside. The French fries arrived cold, which was disappointing. I ordered the steak sandwich, and the steak itself was pretty good. Unfortunately, the bun was very soggy and could have benefited from being toasted. My wife ordered a pizza and really liked it. My mother-in-law had the chicken sandwich. Overall, the food was a mixed experience, but my biggest problem wasn’t the food—it was the service and the decision to have us sit outside in 93-degree weather when there appeared to be plenty of empty seating inside. With an 82-year-old member of our party, I felt the restaurant could have shown a little more consideration and hospitality. If there had been another choice, we probably wouldn’t have stayed and ate outside. It was difficult parking and getting my mother-in-law in there so we stuck it out.

We found this restaurant was able to accommodate our large party and is located on the local riverfront. The server was very nice and tried to cater to us to the best of her ability. She appeared overwhelmed at several points with minimal help. The food took a very long time to be served and there were several issues coming from the kitchen. One dish needed warmed up more, one was not made properly, a burger was very well when it was supposed to be med rare and then came out dripping bloody grease, and a salad needed to be remade as well. In the end, the food was tasty (with necessary corrections), service was good, and duration of stay was not acceptable. If in the area again, I'd give this place another chance in hopes this was an off night.

Food is great. Check out the happy hour specials! Service was not good our 2nd visit. Took over 10 minutes (not busy) to be approached by a waitress for the first thing to come from her mouth was that I couldnt sit where I was because I was a fire hazard and that I needed to move. She didn't suggest a spot to move to so we found a table at the restaurant next door.

The Landing used to be our favorite place to eat in Washington but after our most recent visits we don't plan on going back. I understand that last night was busy as it was after the parade, but our table (in the back room which smells like bathroom air freshener) waited for our food for a long time, and my son's meal was totally forgotten. We shouldn't have been charged for that. A large group seated after we placed our order received their meals before we did. The food was not great. My grandson's chicken tenders looked like they were fished from the remains in the fryer. The sauce on my buffalo chicken sandwich was really funky - not what I would call buffalo sauce at all. What happened to The Landing?

Bartender in outside bar disappeared when I was trying to leave, so I called the bar and told them to send someone outside so I could pay and leave! The weak minded bartender got mad, and called police and "trespassed" me. Been going there for years but there's always at least one bartender that's rude. One of them runs the golf place across the street now. Food's always been a disappointment. Small expensive portions.
