I rarely leave 1-star reviews, but this was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve had.
I order the Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream Slush from this Sonic about once a week. It’s not some secret menu item—I have ordered it at this exact location multiple times without any problems.
When I ordered it this time, the employee told me they couldn’t make it. I politely explained that I had literally ordered the exact same drink there the week before. His response? “Well, we LITERALLY can’t make it for you.” The sarcastic emphasis and attitude were completely unprofessional.
The reason? He said he couldn’t find the button to charge for the cheesecake. Instead of asking another employee, getting a manager, or taking 30 seconds to figure it out, the solution was simply to tell a paying customer “no.” That’s not acceptable customer service.
The issue wasn’t that they were out of ingredients. It wasn’t that the machine was broken. It was that an employee either didn’t know how to ring up the item or didn’t want to take the time to learn. Rather than trying to help, he chose to argue with a customer who orders this drink regularly.
Customer service is about solving problems, not creating them. A simple, “Let me ask my manager,” or, “Give me just a second to figure it out,” would have completely changed this experience. Instead, I was met with attitude, sarcasm, and zero effort to help.
This location needs better employee training and a reminder that treating customers with respect goes a long way. I left without ordering anything, and after being spoken to that way over something so simple, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
