This was my first time trying African food and I was absolutely blown away. I had the egusi soup with fufu.. full of flavor and absolutely delicious. I was traveling through St. Louis and most places had their kitchens closed by 8 PM or earlier on a Monday night, so I was thankful to find a spot open later than most. Great food, great experience, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in St. Louis.

What a wonderful experience! As you enter Africana, you are captivated by the atmosphere, decor and afro- beat sounds! The food is absolutely amazing, and the staff are warm and welcoming. The Egusi was exceptional, and evey dish that I've tried so far was delicious! Africana is just a great spot... for food, drinks, good music and relaxation. Its a great vibe!
Exceptional! My son wanted to try a different cuisine than the typical Italian, Thai or Mexican that we usually eat, so we decided on Africana. We do not regret it. The atmosphere is super comfortable, the staff is very friendly, and the food was unique and different from our usual cuisine. We had the beef samosas to share and I ordered the egusi with fufu, my son got the goat soup with fufu, and my husband got the waakye rice. Everything was so flavorful.
My only regret is my son and I getting the same side—I wish one of us would’ve tried something different so we could experience more of the menu. Either way, we will return.
I've been wanting to try Fufu and egusi for a while now. My daughter and I went to lunch here on Mother's Day weekend. And I must say it was a very pleasant experience! I would definitely recommend. The food was hot, flavorful and delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself was amazing. And the prices were reasonable. Africana has been added to one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

I’ve came here about two times so far and will no be coming here again. They are over priced and they are not willing to accommodate. I ordered fufu and egusi soup ($18) and a red snapper filet which was $23. I already paid and put the order in online. When I was on my way to pick up my order they called me and said they were out of the red snapper filet. I told them just to substitute it for a medium whole fish which was the same price and I asked them to add beef to my egusi for the inconvenience and they said okay. So I finally get there just to figure out that they charged me $16 for a couple pieces of beef and they didn’t make the fish because they were out of the medium. They only had large which was more $$. The medium filet was $23 and the large was $26. It was a $3 difference they told me I’d HAVE to pay. Don’t get me wrong I’m not trippin about $3 but it’s the principle. Why are you making me pay extra because you are out of something I already paid for. They weren’t willing to accommodate for the fact that I wasted my time and money. Levels and African palace serve the same dishes for a better price. African palace charges $23 for fufu and egusi soup WITH beef included. And levels charges $28 but beef is included. But this place charges $37!!!!!! ($18) for fufu and egusi and ($16) for like 3 pieces of beef. That’s outrageous… I hate to be that customer that leaves a bad review but this was over $3 that they could’ve covered to make up for the fact that I paid for an item that THEY ran out of and forgot to update on their website. Unfortunate that I won’t be coming back because the food wasn’t bad. But I’m not about to support a restaurant that charges a price that Ruth Chris would for their food.
