1904 Steak House Review – May 21, 2026
I visited 1904 Steak House on Thursday, May 21, 2026, while at the casino with my mother, who was gambling. I decided to treat myself to a nice dinner alone and was looking forward to the experience.
Overall, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I requested booth seating, and while I appreciated being accommodated, the booth I was seated in was located toward the back and the lighting was extremely poor. In fact, it was so dark that I had to use the flashlight on my cell phone just to read the menu. I mentioned the lighting to one of the staff members who was clearing tables, and he acknowledged that the area was indeed very dark.
As far as service, I would rate it very highly. My waiter was attentive, professional, and checked on me several times throughout the meal. The service was definitely one of the highlights of my visit.
Now, onto the food.
I started with the crab cake appetizer, and it was excellent. Out of everything I ordered, the crab cake was by far my favorite dish. It was flavorful and well-prepared.
I also ordered the lobster bisque. Unfortunately, this was disappointing. I have had lobster bisque at many restaurants, and I can honestly say this was my least favorite. The flavor simply did not appeal to me.
For my entrée, I chose the pork tenderloin, which was served with what I believe were cheddar grits, asparagus, and a reduction-style sauce. Since asparagus also accompanied the crab cake, I did not taste the asparagus with the entrée. By that point, I was already getting full from the appetizer and complimentary bread, but I still wanted to sample the pork and grits.
Sadly, the entrée was the biggest disappointment of the evening. The pork tenderloin was flavorless, and even the sauce poured over the top lacked any noticeable taste. I hate to say it, but I found the entrée to be very underwhelming and unenjoyable. Because I had barely touched it, I asked my waiter for a to-go box.
I am not someone who typically writes restaurant reviews, but I felt strongly enough about this experience to share my honest opinion. While the service was very good and the restaurant itself appeared attractive, the poor lighting in my seating area and the disappointing entrée left me uncertain about returning to 1904 Steak House.
