    My mom and I went here to try the famous Kansas City BBQ and we were absolutely disappointed. First of all, none of the tables had BBQ sauce or salt & pepper and we had to ask the food runner to grab some. When we got the BBQ sauce, the bottles were very sticky. Second of all, the place wasn’t busy at all on a Wednesday at 8pm and yet our server was nowhere to be found. She didn’t even come to check on us after our food arrived. The meat was very dry and only tasted good after dousing it with sauce. When we wanted to order desert, we had to get up and find our server who was standing around chatting with the other servers and even the manger. Even after all of this, we then had to get up to find our server to pay the bill. She dropped off the check and didn’t bother to come back to pick up the card. Just a very unprofessional environment. I excuse slow service if the restaurant is busy and/or understaffed, but this one was neither. Based on this experience alone, we would never come back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

    I’ve gone here a few times in the last few weeks due to work but the staff and the drinks are amazing. My meat was a little tough one time and the service was a little slower that day but overall I had amazing service every-time I ate at the bar. I will definitely be back!

    My family was able to enjoy a party in the outdoor area that was catered by char bar. The staff were very attentive. The food was delicious. We experience the brisket, turkey breast, beef sausage and pulled pork. Everything was cooked perfectly, tender and delicious. The scenery and things to do on site are amazing. Plenty of cornhole boards and pickleball courts. The restrooms are clean. It's unusual not to have a place to wash your hands in the bathroom, but there is an area between the two restrooms to do so.

    Stopped in kansas city for work. wanted to try the famous kansas city bbq while i was in town. I shouldnt have rushed it and went to the closest place. this is not an example of kansas city bbq. i got a three meat platter and all the meats i got were dry as a bone and tough as nails. absolutely disgusting. brisket was way over cooked and turned to dust in my mouth. the ribs were bubble gum. the burnt ends were closer to a tree bark beef jerky. mac n cheese was dry. pretty much everything was terrible but the server seemed nice so i didnt want to be a pain and send it back. I just cut my ties and left. I will never go back.

    I’ve been going to this location of Char Bar for over two years now. I go fairly consistently and often I’ll order a couple of pounds of meat for my family to eat off of throughout the week. While I’ve loved Char Bar, my last several times had been really disappointing. (I do dine in and to go orders.) The food has gotten increasingly more inconsistent. Too much fat in the meat or just wasn’t rendered properly. Sometimes when I get the food, it’s almost inedible because of the salt content. This time there was no salt in the pulled pork, which was kind of nice. Brisket quality has gotten worse, and recently has been mostly fat. So I’m paying $30 for half a pound of fat. I’ve stopped getting the sides altogether too because they’ve also gotten worse and overly salted. (Mind you, I’m someone who generally adds salt to things.) When I pick up to go orders I generally have to wait a long time before someone notices I’m there. (I once waited nearly 20 min for a teenager to come to the window.) And then they generally forget any drinks with my order. When I order fries to go, I understand they’re not going to be as good when served to a table, but this time I got in the car, opened the bag of fries and it was literally just a wet pile of potatoes and oil. I’ve also had items missing from orders. I may give them a few more chances since I’ve loved it in the past, but I’m incredibly disappointed in the service and quality of food as of the past 6 months.
