Must-order: ribs, burnt ends, brisket, mac n cheese. Make sure you stock up on all the pickled things at the pickle bar. And check out the hot sauce collection — there is easily over 100+. They also have 5-6 homemade bbq sauces. We had a sauce party trying them all. Sadly, I didn’t have room for dessert (rookie mistake) but…the coconut creme pie looked delicious. Their desserts are made from scratch, local, and are renowned. After you eat, have a stroll at the antique store/flea market next door to digest. We will be back!

Passing through to pick up some BBQ for business meeting. Saw the awesome reviews, and wanted to give it a try. People are very nice, but the food was meh. 1. Brisket was dry and tasted like from last two days 2. Wings were also very dry, and had no flavor 3. Ribs were dry, but with some flavor 4. Sausages were great, however I ordered jalapeno ones, but got original 5. Sides are there saving grace here, I had house slaw, and brisket chilli, both were excellent.

Food was ok. I've had better que in KC. It lacked flavor and smoke, but was otherwise tender. The side were a no go for me. Potato salad looked promising but the taters were so bland. I wasn't a fan of the baked beans. I can't rate service since my order was to-go. The american flags hanging didnt make me feel welcomed, in fact it did the opposite. I am sure that was the purpose for them hanging anyway. As high as bbq is you can go on down to the food truck near 39th and noland rd to get more flavor and less in your face "patriotism".

The good: When the food is hot and fresh and if you go Monday through Thursday at an off-peak time, it's good. The regular bbq sauce is really good, as is the brisket. I really liked the attached antique place, and if you're into antiques definitely check that out. Not so good: They understaff on the weekends so expect longer waits especially at peak times which is unusual for a bbq place as it's mostly pre-cooked. There is a self-service condiment bar with pickles and onions and other things, but it's a disaster you should avoid. They don't keep it up well and the tongs are 4 inches long but the wells are 6 inches deep, so the tongs are usually either underwater in the well, or well-meaning customers have laid them on the dirty counter ledge where they quickly get knocked to the floor, and then put back into the wells, and just. . . ick. Went twice and they were out of ice both times and the mix was off on the pop. The portion sizes are good on a few things like the ribs and sweet potato fries, slight on several things , and ridiculously small on the brisket and burnt ends. The burnt ends I ordered came with only 5 burnt end pieces and weren't trimmed at all so it was basically 5 pieces of fat with a little meat on 3 of the pieces. Was pretty disappointed on the burnt ends. We went twice and 2/3's of our order was hot and the rest wasn't. We spent $55 for two people which wasn't awful, but wasn't amazing. I would recommend trying it with tempered expectations.

I almost don't want anyone to know about this place because it's so good in so many ways. Before even mentioning the food or atmosphere, it is openly connected to a gigantic flea market. Regarding the atmosphere it's very eclectic/nostalgic and they always have some KC highlights going on the TV like the world series. Then there is the food. If you don't roll out of here full enough to pop, then that's your fault. All the meats are quite tasty with several sauce options. All of the sides are amazing as well with tons of complimentary garnishments such as pickles onions, peppers, etc. And, a must have is a dessert cookie or brownie which I would say rivals that viral pink cookie store that shall remain nameless. I could eat here everyday! Enjoy!!!
