Food was honestly just ok for what it should be for the exorbitant price. Sushi was ok, comparable to a good sushi spot in your local town. Taco duo was a little bland. Rock shrimp was fine. Malasadas for dessert were a little undercooked but fine. Everything was “fine”. Everything being “fine” for over $300 was definitely not fine. Servers were very nice and accommodating. Nice sunset view. Morimoto should just come around more and elevate the food a little bit.

We felt profiled because we are a younger couple. Our server was visibly much more attentive to other tables of older couples. Our server didn’t even hold conversation with us and would walk away as soon as one started. We felt as though we were trying to be upsold on every item we ordered. We were looking forward to trying the chef’s sashimi appetizer but it was sold out; so we were recommended the $100 steak dinner instead, which is not even within the same ballpark of price or type of food we wanted. Service was lackluster and food was nothing to write home about. There are definitely a lot better spots that are more affordable and will provide a better experience. We really wanted to love this restaurant and we were really looking forward to our dinner, but unfortunately we will not return on our next trip out.

We had a lovely dinner at Morimoto Maui and really enjoyed the overall experience. The service was excellent throughout the meal, and the restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere.
Our favorite dishes were the BOP and the Surf & Turf Roll—both were outstanding and are definitely worth ordering. The rest of the sushi was good, though not particularly memorable, and the Surf & Turf (lobster and short rib) was enjoyable but didn’t quite live up to our expectations given the price.
The main reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the pricing and, more importantly, the way the bill is presented. A 20% service charge was already included, along with a 2% kitchen fee, yet the payment screen still suggested adding another 20% tip without making it sufficiently clear that this would be an additional gratuity. That felt misleading and could easily result in customers unintentionally tipping twice.
Overall, we had a very nice meal with excellent service and some standout dishes, but I hope they’ll make the billing process more transparent.
