Nobu Lanai at the Four Seasons was such an incredible experience. We did the prefix menu for a group of eight, and every course was timed perfectly. The service was seamless from start to finish, and the staff took amazing care of our entire table. The food was exceptional, but the Wagyu beef completely stole the show!

What a fantastic evening. Chef Tex did not disappoint. The cocktails down to the dessert and smooth saki were excellent. The Yellowtail and ahi were so fresh and flavorful. The Hucker salad named after his sous chef was maybe the best salad I’ve ever tasted. Everything put in front of us we devoured. We felt so lucky to hear about the dishes straight from Chef Tex. We left so full we had to roll out of there!

Service is painfully slow, but maybe they were understaffed today. My table, and others, waited several minutes to talk to our waiter to place any order or add on any item. However, my star rating has nothing to do with service. And they were kind enough to comp dessert because we were celebrating our babymoon - at Sensei, so they let them know here :) The fish / seafood is decent, everything else is mediocre at best. Ordered the whitefish, salmon, and tuna tacos. The tuna tacos were the best of the three, but overall the dish wasn't special enough for me to want any more pieces. The Brussel sprouts were pretty good. Nice crisp and sauce. The shrimp tempura was the best item we tried here, and the creamy spicy sauce is the way to go (although they let you try both). The 48 hour braised teriyaki glazed short ribs tasted like a low quality American BBQ meat. And the crispy rice with spicy tuna is a waste of good tuna. Hard to taste that delicious Hawaiian tuna taste, and the crispy rice was nothing special. The shave ice has passion fruit syrup I thing? Not sure, but I feel like that is a polarizing choice of syrup. They were kind enough to put the coconut sorbet on the side as it had rum and my partner doesn't drink. They replaced it with vanilla ice cream in the shave ice. The coconut sorbet is decent, but I personally didn't like the rum taste within it. Overall, I did not like this dessert at all because of the passionfruit taste. However, I don't like passionfruit, so if you do, maybe you'd enjoy this dessert. The texture of the shave ice is nothing special, the dedicated shave ice spots on other islands do it so much better. All in all, I would not dine here again and would tell others to avoid it, or at least only stick with seafood, and avoid the crispy rice tuna. But I'd still rather go to Lanai City Grill and enjoy their incredible tuna tostada I did dine at Sensei by Nobu and overall it was a better experience, and the lamb chop there was divine. Though the rest of the dishes were nothing special. But at least the price was better. Although Sensei has far fewer seafood options

Update: The restaurant got a hold of us through open table to confirm a reservation. The food is really good, the service is great, and the experience at the restaurant is overall really nice. The manager Carlos was very welcoming and the waitress Erica was amazing. Glad We were able to go to this restaurant. Backstory: I have tried for several days to get ahold of this restaurant to book a reservation and haven't been able to get ahold of anyone. I called the 4 seasons directly and was told that I would need a manager's approval to get make a reservation since we weren't going to be staying there. They said the staff would call me back if they have the time. Still haven't received a call back. Really bummed, this looked like a nice restaurant to try. Way to make locals feel welcomed.

There’s an interesting experience in fine dining, one where you love the food, but everything is immediately colored and biased by the service falling beyond short of expectations. You may make a reservation and a restaurant is not prepared to seat you, but that can be quickly rectified. What cannot be as easily rectified is when you are asked to spend $600-$900 on a meal for two and your server cannot get the basic requests correct. Following that minor reservation issue, a decision may be made not to greet the table or provide menus for 10-15 minutes. This is still fine, but the experience now runs the risk of being unacceptable . When the table is finally greeted and menus are provided; asking only one member of the party their preference for water (still or sparkling) and if they would like lemon for limes seems like an avoidable mistake, but you would be wrong. The true avoidable mistake is doing that and for some reason providing limes, when lemons are requested and failing to notice that the limes are untouched for the following 2 hours. I could continue to regale the unfortunate reader of this review that I’d prefer not to write, but I won’t because the act of catharsis is now complete, but please god provide the cocktail menu you said you’d bring and of the first 4 times you come to the table instead of waiting for the 5th and especially don’t make the situation worse after you’re told that more food than cucumbers and sesame seeds should be provided in the first hour of a tasting menu. Yours truly, Someone who won’t go to this nobu again, which is really meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
