I enjoy the layout of Safeway. I can always count on the produce looking fresh and inviting. Always remember $5 sushi Fridays!

It's usually more expensive than other places, but when they run specials it is SO WORTH GOING. Also, be sure to get the app and click on the coupons. Check their Friday specials as well. Staff is ALWAYS kind and courteous (at least at the one I shop in) I sometimes ask where to find a special product and they literally go and get it for me, but you can also look for the item on the app.

It's a supermarket in my neighborhood that is always open and has a large parking lot, which is very convenient. However, last night when I went to buy beer and presented my ID at the self-checkout, a female clerk read my date of birth out loud twice. Her voice wasn’t particularly loud, but it was loud enough for other people nearby to hear. A friend who was with me didn't know my age, so she seemed surprised. Was it really necessary to say the personal information out loud at a volume where others could hear? I felt her behavior was incredibly tactless and mean-spirited.

Safeway is one of the large local supermarkets I often use in Hawaii. The store is spacious, the parking lot is large, and you can find almost everything in one place, including groceries, meat, fresh produce, flowers, household items, kitchenware, and even some beach essentials. Prices can be a little higher than some other supermarkets, but if you take advantage of the weekly sales and membership discounts, you can save quite a bit. Some of the sale prices are actually very good. The produce is usually fresh, and there is a great selection of fruits, vegetables, and meats. I also like that the aisles are wide and the store is well organized, so you can shop comfortably without feeling too crowded. Overall, it is a very convenient supermarket for doing a big grocery run, especially if you shop the sales.
