I recently checked out Fresh Bites Hawaii and had a meal that really blew me away. I decided to try the Portuguese sausage eggs benedict, and it was honestly amazing. One of the coolest parts about this place is how they handle their benedicts. Instead of a traditional English muffin, they use mochi waffles as the base. I wasn't entirely sure how that would work out, but the texture was perfect. The waffles had that slight chewiness you expect from mochi, which held up really well under the hollandaise sauce and the eggs.
I'm not 100% sure if the entire restaurant is gluten free, but having that mochi waffle option is a huge plus for anyone looking to avoid wheat. It felt like a much more interesting version of a standard benedict. The flavors were spot on too; the Portuguese sausage had a nice little kick to it, and everything felt very fresh and well-prepared.
The overall quality of the food was high, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into their ingredients. Even if you aren't strictly looking for gluten free options, the mochi waffle base is worth trying just for the flavor and texture alone. It is a great little spot for a relaxed breakfast or brunch, and I left feeling really satisfied with my choice. Iām definitely looking forward to going back and seeing what else they can do with those waffles.
Delicious and fresh food with friendly and thoughtful service. Highly recommend!
