HQ Gastropub on Ventura in Woodland Hills is one of those spots that actually delivers. Walk in, grab a seat at the bar or on the patio, and you’re set.
The garlic fries are ridiculous — hot, loaded with garlic, truffle oil, parsley, and Parmesan. You will fight over the last ones. Pair them with a dirty martini that actually tastes like a dirty martini: ice-cold, properly briny, no watered-down nonsense.
Beers on tap are solid and they rotate enough that you can actually try something new instead of the same three IPAs everywhere else. The smash burger is the one to get: two thin, crispy-edged patties, melted cheese, pickles, onions, house spread on a toasted brioche. No sad thick hockey-puck burger here. The ahi tacos hit just as hard — wonton shells, sushi-grade ponzu ahi, crushed avocado, lime, cilantro. Fresh, clean, and gone in three bites.
Happy hour 3–6 daily makes it even better. Good energy, good drinks, great service, food that doesn’t feel like afterthought bar food. This is the Woodland Hills gastropub you actually want to go back to.
