Abdullah was an amazing host! He made me feel at home my husband I came by to pick up dinner and we were absolutely blown way as always our second time coming and I think we are banned for life if possible this is home-cooked Middle Eastern food that feels like you’re Auntie made it for you personally. That’s the kind of feel that I personally want wherever I go where we are family and we take care of each other and the food is fresh light and just makes you feel out of this world. So if you are looking for that home-cooked fresh Middle Eastern home cooking, this is the place that you need to go because this is where you will get all your needs met!

Really enjoyed Manakish in downtown San Jose! The food was fresh, flavorful, and authentic, with both chicken and beef shawarma being the highlight. Great spot for a casual meal, and the portions were generous. Definitely worth checking out if you’re craving Lebanese/Middle Eastern food.

This review is exclusively a reflection of my experience with takeout from this establishment. For a restaurant whose guiding mission is “to be the best Mediterranean restaurant in Walnut Creek through a combination of preserving tradition, innovating with modern flavors, and using the best possible ingredients for an unforgettable culinary experience,” it pains me to say that they are from it as it stands. I was urged to give this restaurant a try by a friend, so I decided to order for delivery. The food looked appetizing on their website and their About Us sealed the deal for me. I ordered two of their Kefta Kebab Plates. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed to find that the centerpiece of the plate (the kebabs) were charred. What’s more, the rice lacked seasoning/flavor and the salad was dull. While I was not able to entirely enjoy their food due to food safety concerns, I hope to go in person and give it a second shot, as it seems that according to others, this is far from the norm.

We buy dinner often since we found this place. One day I went to show a house in the area and we were short on time so decide to go to the first place we found. Boy, I was happy we went there. Every time since, the food is excellent. Very flavorful and my son thinks the best hummus he has ever eaten. Lamb and chicken kebabs very good with the salad and pita. Even the wraps are amazing. By the way, the first time was eat-in and since then all take-out.

Overpriced, small portions, and an $8 coffee that absolutely isn’t worth $8. I gave Mankish a try on a Saturday around 4:30 PM. The wait was about 15 minutes, which was reasonable. I ordered the chicken kabob wrap with a choice of salad or fries for $20.99, along with a 16 oz pistachio coffee for $8. After tax, I was right around $32 total. The food was okay, but that’s really all I can say about it. For nearly $21, the portion was small and the meal did not feel remotely worth the price. And then there’s the $8 pistachio coffee. This was one of the biggest disappointments. It tasted like regular coffee with some crushed pistachios thrown in, yet they’re charging $8 for a 16 oz cup. I’ve had plenty of specialty coffee at Starbucks that costs less, tastes better, and is consistently made. To make matters worse, the woman at the register told me they were missing the base for the coffee I ordered. If you’re charging $8 for a drink, I expect it to be made correctly, taste good, and be consistent. The biggest issue with Mankish is value. For around $30, I can feed two people at In-N-Out. I can feed two people at Chipotle. At Mankish, I spent roughly $30 on one small meal and a mediocre $8 coffee. The food isn’t terrible — it’s just completely overpriced for what you’re getting. When you’re charging premium prices, the portions, quality, consistency, and overall experience need to justify it. Unfortunately, they don’t. $30+ for one person and I left feeling like I barely ate. Overall: 3/10. The food is okay, but the prices are ridiculous for the portions and quality. The $8 coffee was especially disappointing. I wouldn’t return.
