I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but today’s experience at Pizza Factory was very disappointing.
We came in with a group of family members, and everything started off great. When we ordered our food and drinks, I specifically asked the cashier if they had kid-sized cups for my two young nephews. She told us to use the small water cups instead. Since she was the employee taking our order, we trusted her recommendation. We filled those cups with iced tea for the kids.
The confusing part is that we were already charged for our drinks when we placed our order. We assumed everything was taken care of because we paid at the register before sitting down.
While we were in the middle of eating, another employee came to our table, picked up the two cups without asking, and told us they were only meant for water. We immediately said that if there had been a misunderstanding, we would pay for them. My sister-in-law went to the register, and we ended up paying another $10 for two tiny drinks, even though we had already been charged for our beverages when we first ordered.
What really upset me wasn’t just the extra charge—it was how the situation was handled. Instead of politely explaining the misunderstanding, the employee stood there arguing with us for several minutes and even brought over the new cashier who had originally helped us. It felt like we were being blamed for following the employee’s instructions.
We completely understand that businesses have policies regarding water cups. However, this misunderstanding started because of the recommendation made by the cashier. A simple, respectful conversation could have cleared everything up. Instead, we were interrupted in the middle of our meal, made to feel uncomfortable, and left with a very poor impression of the customer service.
I hope management uses this as a training opportunity, especially for new employees. Mistakes happen, but the way they’re handled is what customers remember. Unfortunately, our experience left us feeling embarrassed and disappointed.
