  I recently had a not so great experience at the Safeway on 11th St. in Tracy. I shop there a lot and find that most of the associates are friendly and willing to help you. But it has also been my experience, more often than not, that a sale price or a digital sale didn’t go through even though I clipped the coupon and entered my phone number at the register. This had happened for quite some time before on an occasion where I didn’t receive benefit of the sale price, I was told by a clerk that entering your phone number doesn’t always work and I should use my barcode in my app. instead. No one had ever told me this before or ask to see my barcode at the register. At that point I always entered my phone number which I was told doesn’t always work!!! This happened again but this time it involved a 50% markdown tag that apparently didn't get scanned by the individual that rang me up. You might be wondering about this time, why did I give the store 5 stars if my experience was so bad in this area … well, it was how and who corrected the problem the next day when I noticed the error and came back to the store. I received the best customer service from a young man named Jason and the 5 stars were for him!! Jason was very polite, professional, and provided me with excellent customer service. He made me feel like a valued customer and that he earnestly wanted to help me. That’s what keeps me going back to the store even with the issues with sale prices.

  Safeway is a pretty good grocery store overall. They usually have a good selection of food and household items, and the store is generally clean and organized. The prices can be a little high sometimes, but the deals and rewards help. Overall, it’s a solid place to shop for groceries.

  I ordered a purple cake on 30th August. The frosting was extremely bitter. I had to remove all the frostings and sliced it as much as possible without the frosting but even the slight layer of purple would make it taste bitter so I had to cut half of it so that we can eat just the bread. I understand it should be because of the dark color choice. But the baker should know how much color to add and if it will make it taste bitter, it should be a stop! No one would like their cake to be bitter. I couldn’t share the cake with kids at party and it was so disappointing. I complained this morning to the bakery section. Very rude and lethargic attitude by the staff. They made fun jokes within themselves and No acceptance of the mistake but very cool way of saying ahhh we don’t know what is bitter! We don’t taste the cakes! Should be cos of frosting and we can’t help. So do you want me to give you 5$? Seriously? What attitude is this? Is this how the customer service should be at a very established store ? Waste of 30$ on this cake and attitude was a bonus. Way to go Safeway !!
