I thought I had pulled my emotions together before I entered the building. But quickly fell apart upon starting to order. The kind employee behind the counter paused to ask if I was ok, with a soft kindness in her voice. I was grateful for her understanding as I briefly explained why I was there. I didn't catch her name. She had light brown hair, was wearing glasses, and I think she had a lip piercing. If you see this, thank you for your kindness. My boy loved his icecream cone, it was the happiest I'd seen him in weeks.
