Not all Vons are created equal. This one is superior. Like a dumbbell, I requested $60 back from the self checkout machine. I quickly scooped up my groceries and left, leaving my $60. That was at about 1:56 PM. It dawned on me at about 9 PM what I would like to call a rookie mistake, except I am a senior citizen. In any event, a super helpful and professional staff person whose initials are Patrice, took her time getting down all the details. A day later I got a call from Thomas, I believe the store Director telling me that they indeed looked through their video footage and retrieved my $60 and would hold it for me. It took me a few days to get back in because I am not local to Westlake. I had a great fortune to meet Patrice for the first time. It was only when I came in to pick up the cash that I realized that she was the same person who had helped me on the phone. There is a lot of really bad news in the press these days. But I must say, my heart lifted way beyond the value of 60 bucks by the human kindness and graciousness that Patrice, Thomas and Vons in general bestowed on me. Who would’ve thought that my bonehead move would end up making me feel kissed and blessed by life. Thank you. m

This might actually be the gold standard for how not to run a grocery store. Every single time I come here, there’s one cashier open… one. Meanwhile, there are seven plus empty lanes just sitting there like decorations. Apparently staffing them is optional? So instead, you get to stand in line forever watching one poor cashier carry the entire operation while everyone else disappears into the void. It’s honestly impressive at this point. What’s the plan here exactly? Because around the corner you’ve got places like Gelson’s and Sprouts that actually understand the concept of customer service, and you guys are out here acting like opening a second register is a major corporate decision. Only bright spot, Stephen. The guy clearly cares. Heard him call for backup on the intercom three different times… and shocker, nobody showed up. Maybe start by getting him some actual help.

Meat isle smells weird every single time I come and has for a year or two, and I stopped getting sushi from here bc it’s always rotted. Tried to get some today, same thing. Glad you’re consistent at least.
