While I’m driving southbound on Interstate 15, my stomach starts to scream, “I’m hungry!” Along the stretch of the freeway that runs through the city of Temecula, there are not a lot of easily accessible restaurants. The options are the basic McDonald’s, Jack in the Box, In-N-Out, and the healthiest fare, a Chick-fil-A salad. However, a 4-letter sign glowed in the darkness—CAVA. This CAVA was cute, clean, organized, and staffed with very, very friendly and hardworking people. The building was filled with colorful pictures, fixtures, and wall colors, and upbeat music played in the background while I ate. The restaurant was in a nice location, and the staff and patrons were diverse. I ordered a bowl filled with harissa chicken, multiple veggies, red pepper hummus, and tzatziki. My bowl was delicious!
Now, I can finish my drive to San Diego with a full stomach—no longer “hangry” and not feeling guilty or worrying about how my GI tract will feel later on this evening :)
BTW, if you haven’t eaten at CAVA before, think of Chipotle, but Mediterranean instead of Mexican. A patron can customize a bowl or pita and fill it with multiple types of greens, rice—quinoa if rice isn’t your thing, proteins such as regular and harissa honey chicken, salmon, steak, and lamb, toppings such as, tzatziki, red-pepper hummus, or regular if you’d like, and feta, vegetable toppings, Kalamata olives, Persian cucumbers, and pickled onions, tasty and healthy dressings, and pita bread & chips, which is included.
The price is reasonable for what you receive: true, healthy, quality food.
