DO NOT COME HERE! Deplorable, unacceptable, and unethical customer service!
I visited De Vinci's Delicatessen in Stockton, CA [7925 Thornton Rd] on Wednesday, 05/06/26, around 2:30 PM. I proceeded to go in the drive-thru line. When approaching the speaker box, I was met with an abrupt "Order when you're ready" from a female employee, delivered in an unenthusiastic manner. I indicated that I wanted to order the #2 Combo but then experienced a long pause with no acknowledgement. During the period of silence, I heard a lot of laughter in the background, which made the interaction seem quite interesting as a customer.
When I arrived at the window, it was evident that my order had not been taken properly and I was asked to repeat it. This reinforced the concern that she was not fully attentive during the initial interaction. Then, I brought up the laughter situation. I was not attempting to directly accuse her; however, when it was brought up, she appeared to take personal offense. She indicated that the laughing came from individuals inside the restaurant's lobby (which I understood), but her entire disposition became deplorable and unprofessional from there. Rather than handling my concern professionally, she allowed her personal feelings about the comment to result in an inexcusable customer treatment. The word exchange no longer felt like standard customer service; it resulted in confrontation. Considering the inattentiveness, rude communication, and defensive attitude, I decided to drive off because I no longer felt respected as a customer.
To add insult to injury, I called the Thornton store hoping to speak with a supervisor about my experience. Unfortunately, it was the same woman who had assisted me in the drive-thru. When I requested a name, she refused to provide it, reiterated harshly and defensively that she was not laughing at me, and ultimately, raised her voice and yelled during the call. I ended the call because the conversation was unproductively hostile.
I called the Pershing location and spoke to an associate by the name of Stephanie. I expressed my concerns about my overall experience. She was very apologetic about the situation and indicated that the manager, Juan, would get back to me. She even went the extra mile to call me back to confirm that I would receive a phone call the same day.
The following day, unfortunately, I missed the phone call from DeVinci's on Thursday, 05/07/26 (around 12:45pm) because it happened at the most inconvenient time while I was working. However, there was no voicemail left, no callback attempt afterward, and no information provided about the best time to return the call. I also sent out an email on Friday, 05/08/26, close to 9 AM. I haven't received a follow-up since then. At this point, the lack of response reflects poorly on the restaurant's hospitality and leadership.
I'm not the type of person who enjoys giving a 1-star review for restaurants. If this is how I am going to receive treatment, then I refuse to support a business that employs rude employees and the management team fails to follow up with customers regarding complaints. I will absolutely not be returning to this restaurant nor visiting any other locations. This entire experience left a sour taste in my mouth. Thanks a lot, De Vinci's.
