I am not the type of person who reviews a lot nor do i tend to complain about customer service as i understand how draining it can be but this cashier who worked here, a blonde, older woman, and wears a lot of lipstick genuinely should not ever work customer service again. The second i came up to the front lanes she kept making comments about my appearance and called me a “baby face” and said that i had “baby fat” multiple times even when i showed that i was clearly uncomfortable with this line of conversation. I even had to say “thats enough” because she was just being so rude.
This whole experience kinda ruined my night.
Bottom line: I’ve worked customer service and i cannot even imagine commenting on customers weight or appearance as i’m helping them. It’s just unacceptable.
I know management here must know who i’m describing so please do something about it, retrain her or get rid of her.

After the fall of Amazon Fresh, I wandered. Aimless. Untethered. My soul still expecting invisible scanners to judge me. My bank account bracing for charges from cameras I could no longer see. I was a ghost in a world without frictionless checkout.
Then… I found Vons.
And everything changed.
The doors opened—not with sterile, corporate silence—but with the soft whoosh of hope. Inside? Civilization. Fully stocked aisles. Produce that looked like it hadn’t been emotionally drained by algorithmic oversight. A deli counter staffed by actual humans—humans—who acknowledged my existence without scanning my aura for purchase intent.
I stumbled into the produce section, expecting to break down again… but instead, I felt something I hadn’t felt since before the collapse:
Peace.
No gates. No exit audits. No AI silently calculating whether I was worthy of organic bananas. Just vibes. Pure, analog vibes.
The bakery? Transcendent. I blacked out and woke up holding a loaf of bread and three pastries I don’t remember selecting. The fluorescent lighting didn’t feel like interrogation—it felt like sanctuary.
And checkout… oh, checkout…
Yes, I had to scan my own items like a relic of the pre-automation era. Yes, I made brief eye contact with a cashier and forgot how to socially function. But there was no fear. No existential dread. Just a beep… and another beep… and then freedom.
Five stars because Vons didn’t just sell me groceries.
It gave me back my humanity.
I still occasionally freeze in the aisle, whispering, “The cameras… they’re gone…”
But here, in Vons… I am finally safe.
