Mastro's collection of sophisticated, classic Steakhouses and Ocean Club seafood locations are recognized for their combination of world-class service, highly acclaimed cuisine, and live entertainment in an elegant yet energetic atmosphere. A truly unparalleled dining experience.
From the moment I arrived at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Santa Clara, the atmosphere immediately made an impression. The setting was lively yet elegant, with live music that added just the right amount of energy without overpowering the dining experience. The dining room was filled with families, business diners, couples on date night, groups of friends, and solo diners—which created a vibrant and welcoming energy. At the same time, the restaurant maintained a level of sophistication and style that made the evening feel special from the start.
Immediately strarting with a cocktail, the cucumber martini tasted like a day at the spa—in the best possible way.
The bread service offered an assortment of flavors and textures, and I think the pretzel bread was my favorite. I also appreciated that the oysters on the half shell and Caesar salad could be ordered in smaller portions. It was perfect for enjoying a little of everything without overdoing it, especially since I knew I wanted to save room for dessert.
For my entrée, I chose the 6-ounce petit filet, cooked medium-plus. It was exactly what I hoped for: juicy, tender, beautifully cooked, and incredible flavor. Each bite was luxurious and took center stage for my meal.
Dessert was the Chocolate Sin Cake, a flourless chocolate dessert that was decadent and indulgent as the name suggests.
Mastro’s also has a sizeable wine selection, and my host/server was happy to make recommendations. I went with the Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2022, which paired beautifully with my meal and continued on to complement my chocolate dessert.
What made the evening especially memorable, though, was the hospitality.
As a solo traveler, the team at Mastro’s was attentive and welcoming without ever making me feel uncomfortable or overlooked. I felt as though I wasn’t really dining alone. Everyone including the General Manager checked in, engaged with me, and made me feel welcome, while also giving me plenty of space to enjoy my meal at my own pace.
The evening eventually became even more social when I struck up a conversation with guests at a neighboring table. We later gathered at an open spot at the bar, turning what began as a solo dinner into an unexpectedly fun social experience.
That balance of attentive service, excellent food, an elegant atmosphere, live music, and genuine hospitality made this much more than just a good steakhouse meal. The music, the energy of the room, and the warmth of the team all came together to make the evening quite memorable.
Definitely coming back the next time I’m in town.

I was there for a birthday celebration this past Sunday. The food was amazing. The steak was tender. The lobster Mac and cheese and lobster mashed potatoes were delicious. Even my mango lemonade was perfectly sweet just the way i like it. The ambience was great. I will definitely need to comeback.

Plate came out boiling hot. Mash potatoes was bubbling and burned my mouth. Why do you need the plate that hot???
I had bottled still water but then a server came by and pour tap water into the cup…no attention at all.
The bread service was mediocre and seemed to have tried to compensate for taste and texture with size (quantity >>> quality)
Other tables also was not really touching their bread basket. Take note please Mastro. I’ve had better bread at Outback Steakhouse. Do less but do it well.
Steak was so so and my wife’s rare steak was more like medium well…
Anniversary lesson learned for us: never come back
Also you had some musician there singing songs that were very not well aligned to your atmosphere… modern day pop…at an upscale steakhouse? do some jazz or classic tunes instead…thanks
Also if you’re going to enforce a dress code, do it consistently.

What a treat! We went here to celebrate our anniversary. They made it extra special as we are gluten free and they printed a Happy Anniversary Gluten Free menu for us along with some extra nice touches. The filet was delicious, the scalloped potatoes were the best ever, and the chocolate sin cake was so rich and so good. And the live music by Natalie Hawkins was awesome! Thank you Mastro's for a wonderful experience!
