My co-worker and I first time eating African food and it was delicious, service was amazing, friendly staff.
Please do not come here.
This was one of the worst dining experiences of our lives. I have NEVER had to request a full refund from a restaurant before, but this experience was genuinely awful.
We ordered egusi soup with added beef and an oxtail plate with rice and beans. The "extra beef" I paid for was rock hard and I mean ROCK hard. Even beef jerky is more tender than what was served. I literally had to pull at it to try to chew it. It was dry, tough, and tasted old. The soup also contained random meat that was never explained nor requested, and there was far more of it than the actual beef I paid extra for. The food looked and tasted like it had been sitting for days.
The oxtails and rice and beans also tasted old and off. After eating the food, both of us felt sick, and I ended up vomiting afterward. At that point, it stopped being just a disappointing meal and became a serious concern regarding food quality and handling.
What makes this even more upsetting is that we genuinely love West African food and were excited to try this restaurant. We happened to stop here on our drive home, and the experience was shocking and deeply disappointing.
To make matters worse, they were out of fufu, yet I was still charged for rice as a substitution even though it was only provided because the item I originally ordered was unavailable.
UPDATE:
After my friend posted her review, owner Dougie Uso contacted her and stated that he was willing to provide a full refund. He requested the order information and the last four digits of the cards used, which was promptly provided.
What makes this situation even more concerning is that we were charged THREE TIMES across two different cards for this order.
In his email, Mr. Uso stated that the review did not accurately reflect his restaurant and that he would appreciate she deleted my review after the refund was completed. All requested information was provided the very next day.
However, despite his representation that he would issue a full refund, nearly two weeks passed without any refund being received, forcing us to follow up through reviews. As of this update, we are still waiting for the matter to be fully resolved.
At this point, our concerns are no longer limited to the quality of the food. They also involve the handling of customer complaints, multiple charges, and the lack of follow through after a refund was discussed.
We have retained the emails, screenshots, and documentation regarding the charges and refund request. This review reflects my actual experience.

What’s frustrating is that we love and crave West African food and we were so excited to try this place since it was on a drive home, so this whole experience was honestly shocking and disappointing. This was genuinely one of the worst food experiences I’ve had in my life.

I hope the restaurant takes these concerns seriously and improves its food quality and customer service moving forward.
