Come experience the romance and brilliance of the Royal Navy of some 200 years ago in this one of a kind restaurant. You will be surrounded by hand crafted beams, authentic nautical artifacts and amazed with a spectacular view out over the bay. Docked at the San Leandro Marina since 1979 and serving classic and artfully prepared seafood, quality steaks, fresh salads and other delicious offerings. This is perhaps the perfect place for a special business or romantic occasion or perhaps simply a nice getaway for lunch or dinner.
My partner and I choose Horatio for any dinner occasion. We had a 7pm reservation. After waiting for 10min, longer than usual, we were seated in the bar area not dining. We asked the host why we're not seated in dining and was told the manager shut it down. After 15 minutes same host said manager said it was okay to sit with others in dining. Managers should always honor reservations!
Lastly, I ordered the admiral feast for $49 and was charged an additional $4 for rosemary. Sad way to be treated after all these years. These are tough times for the restaurant industry which is why I support whenever possible but the decline in service makes it hard to.

We went here on Saturday 8/1 at 6pm for dinner. I have two main complaints. The first was that the temperature of the dining area was 82 degrees (read off the thermostat). It was just uncomfortably hot. Sitting there sweaty through the meal was horrible and not what I expected from this place. Second, the milk served to my daughter was SPOILED. It was sour. Makes me wonder what else that sour milk was used for that night. There were some pros; the clam chowder and creme brûlée were delicious, but enough to offset the overcooked salmon?

The staff was great yet untrained. I as an older person do not want to deal with kiosks. I have in most of my past dealt with PEOPLE in an eating establishment. Also the fish was not fresh. I should have figured that out by the pricing. If the younger generation is willing to accept inferior food and service because they don't have to speak to an actual a PERSON. I weep for the future.

We found this place online and liked the idea of the ambiance setting as it's on the water. BIG MISTAKE.
Mediocre food, mediocre Service, and DECEIVING!!
Drinks from the bar took quite awhile, although it was legitimately busy on a Sunday afternoon with a lot of church folk. (Got a modelo at one point and it was poured in like a hurricane glass, not a real pint glass which just irked me.)
We started with the trio appetizer which was honestly good! The crab and shrimp artichoke dip was a bit on the oily side, but good tasting all the same. The problem were the entrees.
The food took long as well. The waiters at one pint came to us and said "I saw your food in the window but we've got runners today so they should bring it out shortly." Basically saying that she was going to leave that for them entirely instead of her just bringing our meals out herself. That really confused us as to why one around even admit that, and we still just hope we interpreted wrong.
My brother in law got the burger and asked for medium, it was way overcooked so much to the point where he asked for them to make a new one. I get it this happens from time to time. They also put my Cajun seasoned fries on his plate when I was supposed to get them; instead of just making some new fries they brought me out a whole new French dip which was nice. The French dip was ok, a little too heavy on the horse radish for me. My brother in law told me his burger was average at best.
Here's where it went south for us. My sister ordered the shrimp scampi, expecting a shrimp scampi. Instead she got some shrimp with mashed potatoes. We inquired with our waitress immediately who told us, "oh no that's definetly a shrimp scampi." We immediately asked again and she poti de out the menu description where it did indeed list it as pretty much shrimp and masked potatoes. Accepting the fact that we didn't read the menu description, we also told her we never really thought that a shrimp scampi would require a look in on the description.
We then told her nicely and politely, that's just not a shrimp scampi. She then chose to gaslight us, saying that the way we know shrimp scampi's are "from back in the old days" whatever the hell that's supposed to mean. After that she continued to insist and gaslight us further. Us being Sure of ourselves we looked up shrimp scampi's on our phones and didn't see anything that fit the image of what my sister had in front of her. We got annoyed at that point, lost our appetite with the mediocre food and the deceiving menu and asked to close our tab and take the food home.
Someone should have a serious talk with the chef and explain to him/her what shrimp scampi is. And from now on if you insist on still naming it a shrimp scampi while still serving an entirely different dish, at least communicate with guests on what they will actually be receiving.
My brother in law asked for an Irish coffee and instead got a watered down coffee with some Jameson in it. We thought about saying something but didn't want the waitress to start in with her "back in the old days" bs again.
Needless to say we won't be returning

This restaurant used to be the spot and top tier 5 star restaurant. Not anymore. I came in town for the weekend and decided to take my wife since she never been . We had reservations as well. It’s been 10 years or more since I’ve been and they have lost their touch. It was a huge birthday party that was in their private area rented out so they were more attentive to that party than the regular guests. Norma was our waitress and it kept taking her forever to come back to our table to take our order and we never received bread like the other guests originally. A mgr came over to help take our order while we waited patiently due to them looking short staffed and tending to the large party. He stated he will bring bread and never did. We finally received it while eating our soup. We got our salad first which was perfect then my wife received her steak and scallops which she sent the scallops back since they were under cooked. She received her clam chowder last which was not in order and odd after the entree. The lavender cosmos weren’t the same like back in the day. Didn’t have the lavender on the side like it use too just barely sugar on the rim . My lobster bisque was horrible. The only thing was good was the crème brûlée. That was still yummy. We were disappointed on the food and the service. Won’t will be back. But we still tipped anyways. Very disappointing experience especially when everything is so pricey. This was not a top notch experience like previously.
