We had a good time overall, but unfortunately there were a couple of service issues that left a bad impression.
First, we were running a little late because of unusually heavy traffic in the area. I called ahead to ask if our reservation could be moved by just 30 minutes, but there was absolutely no flexibility. I was simply told that the system wouldn’t allow it, our time would start whether we were there or not, and we would lose our deposit if we didn’t show up. I understand that businesses have policies and schedules to manage, but the response felt unnecessarily rigid and not particularly customer-friendly.
The second issue was with one of the servers who was helping deliver food and drinks to our group. I had asked her for some additional beer glasses, but she mistakenly brought forks. When I politely said, “Sorry, I was asking for glasses,” she responded rather sharply, “You told me once and I heard it.” It was an unnecessarily rude response to a very simple and polite clarification. She wasn’t our primary server, but the interaction still stood out.
Mistakes and misunderstandings happen—that’s really not the issue. What matters is how staff respond when they happen. A little more flexibility and basic courtesy would have made a big difference to our experience.

I visited Topgolf San Jose around noontime on Wednesday with my family of four. Unfortunately, the service we received was very disappointing and took away from what should have been an enjoyable family outing.
We ordered two appetizers, but no plates or utensils were provided. I flagged down a nearby server and asked for some. She said okay, but after returning to our seating area, we waited about five minutes with nothing being brought over.
I eventually saw the same server about four bays away, walking with a coworker and having a conversation. I approached her again and reminded her about the plates and utensils. She responded, “Oh ya,” and I went back to our area. Another three minutes passed, and we still received nothing.
At that point, I asked a different nearby server for help and explained what had happened. To his credit, he apologized and promptly brought the items about two minutes later. However, there were only two sets of utensils despite there being four of us, so I had to get two additional utensils myself from a nearby cart.
Before leaving, I went to the counter and asked to speak with the onsite manager. I explained the entire situation. The manager apologized, but I was disappointed by the response. There didn’t seem to be much effort to understand what had happened—no notes were taken, and she didn’t ask any of the staff about the incident.
Mistakes and delays can happen, but what was frustrating was having to repeatedly ask for something as basic as plates and utensils, followed by a lack of urgency and attention to the complaint afterward.
For a venue like Topgolf, where families are paying for an experience, I expected much better service and customer care. Unfortunately, this visit left a very negative impression on me and my family.

Our experience at Topgolf was extremely disappointing and, more importantly, made us feel unsafe.
A group of people aggressively pushed us out of our station and began swinging golf clubs around us. The situation became even more intimidating when one individual walked directly into my girlfriend’s face in an aggressive manner. We felt threatened and very uncomfortable with how quickly the situation escalated.
What made the experience even worse was the response from the staff. We did not feel that the situation was taken seriously or that enough was done to address the behavior of the group involved. As paying customers, we should not have been made to feel intimidated or unsafe while simply trying to enjoy ourselves.
Topgolf has a responsibility to provide a safe environment for its guests, especially when golf clubs are involved and a confrontation becomes aggressive. We expected the staff and management to intervene appropriately and make our safety a priority. Unfortunately, that is not how we felt we were treated.
This experience was completely unacceptable, and I hope Topgolf management takes this complaint seriously and addresses both what happened and how the situation was handled by the staff.

I’m confounded by what happened on our visit on Aug 12.
The staff did nothing to intervene or ensure everyone’s safety when the rowdy behavior was in full display. Two individuals were essentially ruining the experience for everyone else—howling, behaving recklessly, and hitting shots with excessive force to the point that multiple times they went out of control letting the club swing and hit the sides of where they were standing — loud and noisily. All the way no apologies and laughing at us.
At one point, their golf club actually flew through the air, passed over someone’s head, and struck the back window behind us. This happened right in front of us and the staff . The club fell right next to the staff member. Yet there was still no intervention. The individuals involved laughed, while the rest of us—including the staff—just looked on in disbelief.
When we reported the incident to the manager—or whoever was in charge at the time—the response was to offer us a discount. But a discount completely misses the point. This was a safety issue.
What is the purpose of displaying rules and a code of conduct if staff are unwilling or untrained to enforce them when behavior becomes genuinely dangerous? Had that flying club struck a staff member—or, worse, a child—would the response still have been the same?
It is a great place, which makes the experience particularly disappointing. The staff seemed either poorly trained or reluctant to intervene when intervention was clearly warranted. Today it was a club hitting a window. It is not difficult to imagine a much more serious incident occurring if dangerous behavior is simply observed and allowed to continue.

I usually have a great time at Topgolf, which is exactly why I chose Topgolf San Jose to host my friends on Sunday, August 2. Unfortunately, this visit was by far the worst experience I've had.
I had a 6:00 PM reservation and arrived on time. When we got to our reserved bay, the floor, table, and seats were all very dirty. It looked like the area hadn't been cleaned at all before our reservation. We had to wait and find someone to clean it before we could even start playing, which delayed our session. As the host, it was embarrassing because this was my idea, and it gave my friends a bad first impression.
Throughout our visit, the service was also very disappointing. Our server was rarely around, and many employees seemed to be standing around talking instead of checking on guests. It didn't feel welcoming at all.
The most frustrating part was at the end of our session. We were ready to leave and head to another place, but there was no server anywhere to help us pay the bill. We waited for almost 10 minutes, and no one came. I finally took the bill downstairs to the front desk because we were in a hurry, but they told me I had to find my server. I ended up walking around the venue with my friends trying to find someone to process the payment. After searching for quite a while, we finally found an employee who could help.
Honestly, I was just trying to pay and leave, but instead I spent my time looking for staff. It was incredibly frustrating.
I really enjoy coming to Topgolf, and that's why I brought my friends there in the first place. This experience was so different from what I've come to expect. Between the dirty bay, the delayed start, the lack of service, and the difficulty simply paying our bill, it was a very disappointing visit. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests.
