This is a family favorite of ours. A classic hole in the wall gem but even still has a nice seating area for dinning in They have a popular afghan Vietnam kebab bahn mi fusion that is very good (available with chicken also. However I recommend trying the whole menus it’s all very good. Just recently I had the chapli kebab plate and it was the best I’ve had in the bay. And all 100 percent halal using fresh healthy ingredients down to the oils. Give this place a try and explore the menu Owner is so friendly and kind he really loves doing what he does and seeing happy customers. Small 2 person run business ready for more hungry customers

The food and service here never disappoint. I've been a frequent customer since 2009, and was hooked at first bite with their beef kebab sandwich. Every dish is seasoned perfectly and not overly salted. I've tried just about everything on the menu and the meat is always tender. Vegetables here are top quality as well, which compliments the dishes nicely. And the green yogurt sauce is spicy! In a good way. I usually order an extra with the biryani plates, because *some* is just never enough. Their mango lassi is super mango-ey. I don't know what kind of mangoes go into this drink, but it has the most sweet, tart, and ripe fruitiness (emphasis on fruitiness), and the yogurt in it adds good balance. Perfect drink. There is a good variety of items to choose from, so I don't get bored eating here. You can tell everything is cooked fresh on a daily basis as well. Don't sleep on the desserts either. After trying baklava at many restaurants around San Jose, I regard Gulzaar Halaal's as my personal favorite. Crispy layers, firm yet chewy bottom, and never stale. Perfect balance of sweet, nutty and spiced. My favorite dessert though has to be Kanafeh. Soft-ish, melty sweet cheese (with rose water, I think?). Ask for it warmed. I've always felt relaxed when eating in the restaurant. Tables are frequently cleaned. The owner is very attentive, making sure customers are happy with everything. Their interactions with people are always very respectful and kind. Last but not least, the bathroom is clean, neat and tidy.

I stopped by here to try the Kabul-style pilaf. And, to be honest, I’d been looking for exactly this kind of pilaf for a long time, but at many restaurants the rice turned out too grainy and dense, and when I ate it, I couldn’t enjoy the interplay of flavors—I just got full too quickly and grew tired of it. But this particular pilaf is one of the most delicious I’ve tasted in the San Francisco Bay Area. The rice is fluffy and delicious, the raisins are also very tasty, and the way they prepare the meat here is a story in itself: the meat is fresh and cooked to perfection, tender, and it literally falls off the bone; the bones are so soft that the bone marrow practically oozes out. I highly recommend that everyone visit this restaurant and try their Kabul pilaf—and only then try it somewhere else—so you’ll understand what you’re missing out on by going elsewhere. Also, a big thank you to the man who helped me carry my order to the car. He was very friendly and hospitable.
