Mediocre food, clumsy unskilled service, wildly overpriced and overhyped. A major disappointment given our high expectations for the evening. The banging sound from an elevator under repair lasted throughout our dinner. No apologies were offered from the staff for the disruption and distraction. It seems they possibly opened before they were really ready to function as a restaurant.

Restaurant phone is a recording only, email is the only supposed contact method. Email I sent was ignored. Restaurant either raised their prices and didn't update their website, or the prices never matched. Odd that less than a month after opening that prices would be raised, but if so, sloppy move to not update their website menu prices. Emailed the hotel GM (since I assumed the restaurant would again ignore my email) about feeling overcharged and nearly a week later, no response. Everything we ordered was 10-20%+ more than the price stated on their website menu. Food was okay, pasta entree was fine, perhaps a bit mushy and the artichokes tasted canned not fresh. Creamed spinach was awful. Trout was undercooked for my taste, cool in the center. Chicken pot pie was fine but nothing special, choice of using thighs seemed wrong, a bit chewy. Service was great.

I called to ask a basic question to help plan a special dinner and was forced to interact with an AI bot that had no access to a human and could not answer my question. I loved this place back in the olden days when you could talk to a human and that was, in fact what the whole restaurant was about and even as someone who works in AI, I find this total lack of access to a human to be both antithetical to everything this restaurant stood for and offensive as someone who spends a lot at restaurants for a human experience. They just lost hundreds of dollars for one evening let alone the thousands I in spend on average on restaurants I like. Whatever money they’re saving on this bot needs to include the cost of alienated customers who were excited to come back and now have to deal with a restaurant experience that feels like a waymo. That’s not this restaurant’s thing and they should realize that. Welcome to 2026. Analyze that AI, and send it to the management of big four if you can find a human in that chain.

Went in tonight for some quick drinks with friends after dinner. We sat at the bar where Emma was bartending. I was with a group of 4 friends and she took all of our drink orders. Starts making mine, then asks if I’m over 21. I reply, yes, I’m 27, and she asks for all of our IDs. I was coming from work and my wallet didn’t get moved from my personal bag to my work bag. So I told her that I didn’t have my wallet, asked if a photo would suffice, and she declined. I understand California state law and there are no qualms. But my friends and I are all the same age and she then proceeded to backtrack from needing to see my friends’ IDs after I said I didn’t have my wallet. I ended up ordering an overpriced $8 Club Soda. Throughout the remainder of our time there, she would speak directly to each of my friends, making small conversations, and then ignore me completely. The entire interaction felt very discriminatory and rude. The ID mishap was on me, but the customer service, or lack thereof, was completely off putting. And I likely will not be returning.

We went to the restaurant on a Saturday night. I was excited as I visited the place 20 years ago and it was amazing! The expectations were high after all what I read online about the recent renovation. The place looks stunning! It does not disappoint! However, the bar service was way too slow, we ordered cocktails and after 15 minutes appetizers arrived and drinks were not still at the table. The bartender looked overwhelmed, it was just one person with a battalion of noisy customers standing by the bar waiting for their tables; he was busy taking their orders while those having dinner had to wait. We ordered the appetizers, poached shrimp cocktail and beef tartare. Disappointing; shrimp had great flavor but it was way too overcooked and rubbery. The beef tartare had a great flavor but the meat cut was not the right one for tartare, it was too tough, rubbery, not the quality for a raw dish. The panacota was excellent! The rest of the dishes were excellent, San Francisco cioppino was delicious, the trout was excellent. The lamb shops were great! Desert was disappointing, the fruit cobbler was not even warm and all I can felt were the berries seeds, not a good feeling. I have to be honest, for a place of this reputation, the food was very basic and the overall experience was disappointing. The waiter was very nice and handled the order quick and efficiently, but I honestly like to enjoy a cocktail before my food arrives, it’s part of the experience, and when your appetizers arrive before your drinks, it actually kills the vibe. Perhaps they’re still trying to figure things out, but they seriously need to send some secret dinners, and learn from those experiences. I’ll be back in a few months, and give it another try, and will give you my most sincere and honest review.
