Surisan was one of my favorite brunch experiences in a long time. The vibe was stylish and fun without feeling overly trendy, and the food felt really authentic and thoughtfully balanced. I got the chicken and waffles and it was genuinely the best version of that dish I’ve ever had. The chicken had this amazing honey sweetness with a spicy sauce that balanced it perfectly, and the waffle itself was sweet without becoming overwhelming or dessert-like. Even the fruit worked beautifully, which surprised me because I usually don’t love fruit on waffles. I also had the matcha ube latte with oat milk and it was fantastic — flavorful, earthy, and not overly sweet. My husband really enjoyed his eggs Benedict as well. The only dish that didn’t totally work for us was the millionaire-style bacon plate. The bacon itself was good, but the portions were just too rich and excessive for us to really enjoy much of it. Service was great at the start — very attentive, almost to the point of feeling a little rushed — but after we got our food there was a long wait for the check. Still, overall this place was excellent and absolutely somewhere I’d come back to next time I’m in San Francisco.

Surisan was good overall, but I wasn’t overly impressed. The flavors themselves were solid, especially if you stick to the more traditional Korean dishes. We ordered the bulgogi nachos and the dolsot bibimbap for dinner. The bibimbap was definitely the better choice and came out in a super hot stone pot, so be careful because I absolutely burned my mouth trying to eat it too quickly. I think the restaurant is trying to lean into Korean fusion in some areas, but it didn’t fully hit the mark for me. The bulgogi nachos, for example, were much heavier and more drenched in nacho cheese than I expected. Good for what they were, just not as elevated as I anticipated based on the restaurant’s exterior and branding. The menu and atmosphere are actually pretty simple overall, though the presentation tries to make things feel a little more upscale. They also heavily advertise their “million dollar bacon,” which felt a little random for a Korean restaurant, but since they also serve brunch, maybe it makes more sense there. We didn’t try it, but clearly it’s popular for a reason. Overall, I’d recommend sticking with the traditional Korean dishes and I think you’ll leave satisfied.

I recently ate at this Korean restaurant in San Francisco and ordered their Korean fried chicken, expecting something authentic after my excellent experiences in Seoul. What I received was a massive disappointment. This so-called Korean chicken didn’t even come close to the real thing — it wasn’t even in the same league. It tasted exactly like regular KFC chicken: same overly thick, soggy breading, generic seasoning, and zero authentic Korean spice, crunch, or flavor. After having incredibly delicious, crispy, perfectly seasoned Korean fried chicken in Seoul, this version felt like a cheap fast-food imitation. For over $30, it was a complete rip-off. At that price in San Francisco, you’d expect something special, but instead I got something that wouldn’t even stand out at a KFC drive-thru. Honestly, if you want Korean fried chicken, skip this place entirely and just go to an actual KFC — you’ll get the same taste for a fraction of the price without the disappointment. I was genuinely shocked at how far off the mark this was, especially after knowing how amazing real Korean chicken can be. Save your money and your expectations. This place is a hard pass.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of my latte from Surisan. No pomp and circumstance but simply very well brewed and prepared. The French toast was exceptional, crispy crunchy and soft all at once and not too sweet. Definitely will return here next time I'm in SF.

Second visit after many years. The place still looks the same. It is closed to Giradheli square. We made reservation a day earlier. This restaurant used to be very busy one. When we arrived we were the only party but the other tables filled up pretty quickly. Looks like this restaurant has relation with Sweet Maple in Palo Alto as they serve similar dishes like pimped up ramen and the millionaire bacon. We ordered couple dishes like banchan , bbq set tor 1 galbi, Korean Fried Chicken, dolsot bimbimbap snd pimped up ramen. All are yummy especially the fried chicken. The pimped up ramen is unique and bacon is yummy. Galbi and dolsot bimbimbap are yummy too but not that special. Usually banchan is free at most of Korean restaurant but you have to pay at this restaurant and I don't think it is re fillable. The service was great and our server was friendly. Overall it was nice dinner and catch up with our cousin from overseas.
