- AUAlina UdovenkoSep 8, 20261.0I spent over an hour shopping and had a very large cart full of groceries. I had only a few items I was planning to purchase with WIC, but I also had a lot of regular groceries that I was going to pay for separately! I then waited about 15 minutes in a very long checkout line. When it was finally my turn, my WIC card would not swipe. I was told that they were not allowed to manually enter the card number. I regularly shop at another store, and they have always been able to manually enter my WIC card when it doesn’t swipe, so I was very surprised by this!! Because of this, I ended up refusing the entire purchase. I left my whole cart behind, including both my regular groceries and the few items I had planned to buy with WIC. I had spent so much time shopping and waiting in line, and it was extremely frustrating to have to leave everything behind because of an issue with the card reader and the way it was handled. I normally shop at another store, but decided to come to this Safeway this time. I really regret wasting so much time here and having to drive to another store to do my entire grocery shopping again. Very disappointing experience. I hope management properly trains employees on how to handle WIC cards when they cannot be swiped!!!!!! The employee who refused to manually enter my WIC card had slightly pink hair and, as I remember, had piercings.
