Had an amazing experience at Hinodeya Ramen on Clay St! I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen extra spicy, and it was absolutely delicious — the perfect amount of heat and packed with flavor.
Our server, Paloma, was amazing! She was super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. It was also great meeting a fellow Filipino! 🇵🇭 She took such great care of us from start to finish.
Great food and even better service. I’ll definitely be back!

Was looking for a great place to get lunch and I made the right choice! Love the teriyaki chicken and the spicy miso ramen was great! Paloma recommended adding garlic and chili sauce and it made the flavors pop! Will try a big bowl of ramen next time! ごちそうさまでした!

A small coincidence on my first day in San Francisco turned into my favourite spot. I needed to check in to the hostel but it was too early, so I searched for ramen on Google Maps and found HINODEYA nearby. Good reviews, so I gave it a try. The pork katsu ramen was one of the best I have had, the umami flavour was amazing.
On my last day in San Francisco I went back, exactly two weeks later. This time I ordered the Spicy Miso, equally good. What makes this place special is the staff. Genuine, warm, and you feel seen even if you are eating alone. The kitchen staff joke around and seem to enjoy themselves, and that energy spreads through the whole room.
A nice detail: when guests arrive, the staff beat a taiko, a traditional Japanese drum with roots in festivals and temple ceremonies. Historically it was used to create energy and mark important moments, and here it becomes a personal and memorable way to welcome guests.
Two visits, same high standard both times. Highly recommended, and it has also sparked an interest in exploring more Japanese food in Japan itself.

Had a quick dinner here and sat at the bar, which is perfect for solo diners. The location is great and very easy to find on Google Maps. The service was excellent—the waitstaff were friendly, and my ramen and gyoza arrived without a long wait. The ambiance was also very nice. As for the food, the broth was a bit on the salty side (though expected for a miso base), and they didn't ask or offer a choice for the spiciness level, so I would have preferred a bit more kick. Overall, a solid spot in Chinatown!
