I have been to this El Pollo Loco location several times, and unfortunately, I have had missing items from my order on most of my visits. Not every single time, but often enough that it has become extremely frustrating. Sometimes the tortillas are missing, other times there are no sauces or utensils, and on my most recent visit, an entire order of tacos that were on special was missing.
This last experience was the one that finally pushed my patience too far. I placed a large order with several different meals for myself and members of my office. After going through the drive-thru, I realized that the taco order was missing, so I went back inside to let them know. The manager did not seem to notice that I was there at first. When an employee asked him about the missing taco order, the manager said that he had prepared it himself and that it was on the order.
I understand that the employees are always under pressure to get orders out quickly, and perhaps the order was prepared, but somehow it may have been given to the customer in the car next to me, or something else went wrong. I don't know exactly what happened. However, I showed the manager all of my bags, and he told me that "this time" they would replace the missing order because he had made it.
What frustrated me was the attitude and the way the situation was handled. I had already left the drive-thru, and I was not going to turn around again and drive back after getting home just to pick up one order of tacos while all the other food was getting cold. The only reason I went back inside was because an item was missing from my order in the first place.
While showing the manager my order, I also noticed that the side salads that were supposed to come with some of the chicken meals were missing from the bags as well. When I pointed this out, the manager asked, "What salads?" I explained that I was referring to the salads that come as the side with those meals. Once again, he said they would replace them "this time."
Unfortunately, when I got back to the office and started distributing the meals, I discovered that there were no tortillas either.
This is not acceptable, especially when customers are placing large orders and trusting the restaurant to make sure everything is included before handing it over. Both the employees and management need better training and a better system for checking orders before they leave the restaurant.
I understand that mistakes happen, but when missing items happen repeatedly, and the response from management is basically that they will replace them "this time," it becomes very frustrating. I should not have to check every single bag and then drive back to the restaurant because basic items are missing from my order.
At this point, I will probably have to drive farther to another El Pollo Loco location where I can hopefully receive better service and, most importantly, a complete order.
