- CMC MillerMay 7, 20261.0BEWARE of the TOXIC and EXTREMELY SMELLY GREEN PRODUCE BAGS on ALL the rolls! Been shopping here for 23 years since the Torrey Hills store opened. This location always had clear produce bags on all the rolls in the fruits/veggies section. Walked into the store (was in another state the past 9 months) today, to discover an odd, very bad smell near the cucumbers. I then find that VONS replaced the clear plastic bags on the rolls, with green, thin, rubbery "compostable" bags that stink very badly. The bad smell is overwhelming. The produce bags smell very smokey, like a fireplace/house smoke. Then it smells like someone tried to cover up the smoke smell by spraying spices on them. Don't know if their produce bag warehouse was in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, or Altadena which all burned down in January 2025, but the BAD bag smell is unacceptable and these bags are TOXIC!! We are reporting them to the SD health department and to the state. Do NOT use these bags!! SECOND- get the dogs OUT OF THE STORE!! I love dogs, but not at the supermarket. Absolutely disgusting to see people putting their dogs IN the shopping carts, and to have dog fur on apples, lemons etc. THIRD- The woman bagger maybe in her 20s or early 30s now, that has been there for years, is getting quite obnoxious. I don't mind the quick "hello" or quick chat, but the LOUD voice that goes on and on about nothing and asking me stupid questions is tiring. I avoid the check-out line if I see her. FOURTH- the deli and checkout lines are always usually always understaffed. FIFTH- 95% of the times, the avocadoes are light greenish (not ripe) and hard as baseballs.
